I stopped watching Supernatural after season 3 since the mystery of the week theme seemed to be taking a backseat to repeated angels vs demons crap. Does the mystery stuff come back in later seasons?

"In any time, there will always be a need for heroes." - the Time Trapper, Legion of Superheroes #61(1994)
"What can I say? I guess I outgrew maturity.." - Bob Chipman
I can see being tired of it, but there is actually a pretty good in story reason. Of COURSE issues between heaven and hell are going to over shadow most other things, and rightfully so. The forces of heaven and hell going at it ranks much higher then a random supernatural nasty.
I loved the trickster appearances when he showed up , then once the angel storyline comes in , they just had to drag him in into the storyline which sucked.
Would have loved the trickster to be above it all and be more powerful than the angels. "Changing channels" was still one of the most awesome episode except the end.

I meant fresh ideas in the way the plot is executed, I found the demon angel conflict to be more realistic as an ongoing never ending battle then 1 side winning eventually.
When the smoke clears(since season 4) every season it's always the trinity Sam, Dean, Castiel. Dean does most of the heavy lifting. Cas helps but often gets tricked cause he's naive, and Sam unless he has some extra powers is pretty much useless.
There's no fun in it. If I can predict the outcome and the exact way the outcome will be executed all the time.
As much as I like this show by this point it has gone on way too long .
Season 9 is better then the previous 3 but that's not really saying much.
Creativity is awesome.
It's a cruel world, that doesn't care for you. Which is why remember to always smile.
Maybe they could do something bold like change it up. Have the monsters forming a secret League to eradicate the hunters once and for all.
It would be great to see a few new characters on the show, it would make the story feel a bit fresher.
The whole angel demon thing should be the secondary plot.
The finale would focus on the Winchesters and company taking down the League of monsters instead.

Agreed. When Supernatural ends I'd prefer it end in the same manner as Angel. I know it would be too open and it would be a cliffhanger but that kind of ending is fitting for Sam and Dean. The show ends with Sam and Dean fighting monsters regardless of the odds stacked against them.
Exactly and Sam knows first hand what it's like to have that kind of power only you can use and thinking you have it under control and are doing good with it only to realize later just how out of control you really are. He's in the same spot Dean was in when he was hooked on demon blood and is trying to at least slow Dean down if not outright stop him
It fits just fine with the shows history of different types of angels having different functions and powers. That goes all the way back to season 5 with the cupids being in charge of governing love for certain important couples or you could even say season 4 with Uriel being a specialist sent in to lay waste to a town. Reapers could simply be angels whose function it is to guide souls to the after life of either heaven or hell to keep them from choosing to stay on earth and become ghosts.
It doesn't contradict anything. Humans aren't allowed to see the true form of angels because it would burn out they're eyes and kill them but when Dean saw her true form he was already dead his spirit was just lingering like bobby's was when he got shot in the head the only reason he came back was a demon deal. As far as being seen by living not close to death humans goes we saw that reapers could do that without a vessel in the episode when Sam went to that reaper to get into hell to save Bobby so reapers can pull it off. That reaper was also killed with an angel blade so that's shown to be possible. It wasn't necessary for this to be done but it makes sense within the supernatural universe if you think about it. Death and God were the first being in the universe, God created some angels to work for him and Death being on par with God said make me a few too with these upgrades for this job I'm going to be doing.
OK. I did see the ending coming. I still really hope it's reversed early in Season 10. spoilers:end of spoilers
Cure him soon. I don't want to be stuck with Deanmon.
Good Marvel characters- Bring Them Back!!!
It's kinda funny when you look at it. We had Souless Sam now this. Another funny note is that....Dean's pretty much Crowley's bitch.

I hope it sticks.
It seems like nearly every season since 3 we've had some dilemma making one of the brothers (and one time Cas) not themselves. And it has started to get annoying.
3- Dean's bartered soul making him reckless
4- Demon blood Sam
5- Lucifer Sam
6- Soulless Sam
7- Crazy Leviathan Cas, then amnesia Cas
8- Demon trials Sam
9- Gadreel Sam
10- Demon Dean

Yeah, I'm done. I'm just bored at this point. We've seen this all before. One brother crying over the other's body, one brother gone darkside, a quest to save his soul, blah blah blah. I am literally not the least bit intrigued about what happens in next season's premiere.
So long, show. It was a few good years, a few mediocre years, and now....whatevs.
