Plenty of incarnations of the justice league since then but only one classic remains the best and most balanced.

Well, now I can appreciate three great eras of the Justice League, here, in the Detroit thread and in the International thread.
Yay, me!
Peace
I almost never bought JLA when I was kid - late 1970s to early 1980s - but I did break down to get some of those JLA/JSA team-ups. I especially remember that massive JLA/JSA/All-Star Squadron event!
And I did get non-JSA Justice League when Don Heck was the artist. Those where cool! The Atom was a giant! The New Royal Flush Gang! Wheee!
My, my! One does peculiar things when one is a gorilla!
Anybody knows when the last volume of the JLA/JSA team-ups TPBs is due? By my count, there are still 3 team-ups to be told.
Peace
The last 3 team-ups ? Which should be the one with the true origins of the black canary , the Kurt busiek one with the commander which was pretty dreadful and the last JL/JSA teamup with commander steel and justice league detroit. That last one crossover with infinity inc and wasn't that good either since it's the detroit league and happened during COIE.
This is the era I grew up with. By the summer of 1976 till the end of that run, I bought every issue either off the newsstand or at my LCS. Justice League of America was probably my favorite comic book then.
A bat! That's it! It's an omen.. I'll shall become a bat!

THE CBR COMMUNITY STANDARDS & RULES ~ So... what's your excuse now?
A bit of trivia...
It was common that they would hold a readers' poll in the letter's page for new members. Much like they did with Legion.
Supergirl almost became a member around the time Zatanna joined.
