FYI: To post videos click on the 2nd icon from the right ["Insert Video"] and input (cut and paste) the correct url at the prompt.

    Example: [(video=youtube;5-MT5zeY6CU]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5-MT5zeY6CU[/video)] with no parentheses.

A lot of the music I listen to these days was from the pre-videos era. (Hell, a lot of it is from the pre-CD era, though it did get converted to those.)

But since I don't typically listen to my music on internet videos, I don't bother to search for them.

The internet is where I find most of the new stuff I didn't know about and half of the old stuff I had forgotten about.

"Back when the album "Leisure" from which this song comes was recorded, the "Madchester" scene and acid house were really big (think bands like the Happy Mondays and Stone Roses but also Sub-sub who would later evolve into Doves) and the record company pressured Blur into recording that album using that sound and the band resisted fiercely but in the end lost the argument.

So Damon wrote "There's No Other Way" as a response to the record company forcing them to work with a sound of a scene they were never part of. Even stranger, when the album came out people who were part of the Madchester scene went "Sounds good but the accent is all wrong."

The video of course is about the kind of family gathering that nobody enjoys."

"Damon didn’t like the whole grunge era that was happening in America so he and the band made this and when Cobain was asked what his favorite britpop song was at the time, he said “There’s No Other Way” by Blur."
