I really dislike Skyfall. They changed so many things that it felt more like an anniversary film, paying homage to the franchise, rather than a new chapter in the series. Everything was an ode to other things, it never established anything new. Like for instance, the new car he uses is just an old one and the gadgets are pointless. One of the gadgets he get is a gun that is encoded to his DNA so it won't work if someone else shoots it. That has been done so many times before, maybe not in Bond films but definitely in other films. The other gadget he gets is a TRACKING DEVICE. How is that high tech or interesting? James Bond should already have a tracking device. I have a tracking device in my cell phone, there's no innovation with these gadgets. They also make fun of GoldenEye, which is arguably the BEST Bond film in existence. "What were you expecting, an exploding pen?" Yes I was actually, because that is an interesting gadget. Things that already exist I have no interest in. The Bond girl in this one had barely any screentime, which is terrible because most of the Bond girls have a major role. This film was just a love story between Judie Dench and Daniel Craig, they're hanging out the whole time. Also, the villain was really really cool, but he doesn't do anything. He just says a bunch of scary stuff. The final showdown between him and Craig was so disappointing. Most of the action sequences from the trailer are in the beginning of the movie anyway. My biggest issue with the film is all of a sudden James Bond is Bruce Wayne. They made up some new storyline where his parents get killed and he becomes some vigilante spy. Why would you do that? Why would you even think about giving Bond a backstory? What is wrong with you? This film was messy. It was beautifully shot, the visuals were great, it's not a complete failure, but it is an utter mess and I don't consider it canon. |
