    For me Brosnan's goes:
    - Goldeneye (AMAZING!)
    - Tomorrow Never Dies (first two thirds AMAZING)
    - TIED: Die Another Day and the World is Not Enough. Both have good points (Elektra King, swordfights, lushes locations, cool stunts) BUT both had such awful faults too (invisible car, Christmas Jones)

Probably, in terms of my favourite films:

    1. From Russia with Love.
    2. Goldfinger
    3. Goldeneye
    4. Skyfall, although I think that's partly because I saw it recently, because my God, does the plotting fall apart in the last half hour

The thing about Bond is that people do get particularly attached to a style or performance:

    1. Some prefer the Connery era Bond, who probably gave his best performance in Dr No, and who combined elegance and charm with a degree of savagery which few of the others (even Craig) could match.
    2. Some people prefer Moore, who always seemed aware of his own inherent absurdity.
    3. Some people prefer dour Dalton, or the suave if physically unimposing Brosnan.
    4. Some people even prefer Lazenby, although I'll admit to being perplexed as to why

Most of the above have had at least one decent film (except for Lazenby in my view, although I know that plenty of people who like OHMSS, but I can't get away from the fact that he had to be dubbed by George Baker for part of the film).

So really there's a style and a film for everyone, and for those who don't like Craig - well, when he steps down, and they get someone else in, they may well adopt a different style... again.

The only film that I find almost unwatchable would be Die Another Day, and at least part of that is my immense irritation with the title song, which would be by some distance my least favourite Bond song.

The unofficial James Bond adventure ...

"Diamonds aren't forever" starring one time Bond George Lazenby.

    Le bump?

    Christoph Waltz Boards Bond 24

Double Oscar winning actor Christoph Waltz will play a significant role in the 24th James Bond film

Double Academy Award winning actor Christoph Waltz has signed for the 24th James Bond film. The 58 year-old German-Austrian actor, best known for his recent roles in 'Inglourious Basterds' and 's 'Django Unchained' will join Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Rory Kinnear, Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux and Dave Bautista.

According to the ever-reliable Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail, Waltz will play a significant role in the film. Although no firm details of his character have been revealed, one source said: "It's not immediately evident whether the part's friend, or foe, or a bit of both". Another added the part is "extremely cunning" and "a nemesis of sorts."

Waltz comes with a previous Bond credit. In 1989, he played a German spy in the TV movie 'Goldeneye', which was very loosely based on the life of 007's creator Ian Fleming (played by Charles Dance).

Principal photography on Bond 24 will start early next month in London, Austria, Morocco, Italy and Mexico. A new prop gun law in Italy may prove troublesome, but the main sequence is understood to be a car chase.
Wonder if his role will be similar to that of 006? The cast is shaping up nicely!

Well, they did kind of do the rogue former agent already with Silva in SKYFALL, although with his past linked to M instead of Bond.

Friend or foe could mean perhaps a character like Kristatos in FOR YOUR EYES ONLY (and the short story RISICO), who we're led to believe is a good guy for a bit. There's also similar misdirection in THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS. Bond also had a sort of friendly rivalry with General Gogol in the Moore era.

They're probably going to hold some sort of press conference for the film soon that will officially have the cast and title.

Sorry to bump this but there are some who think Waltz might be playing a new version of Blofeld, leader of SPECTRE. He first appeared as a shadowy figure with a cat in From Russia With Love and Thunderball, and was the main villain of You Only Live Twice, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and Diamonds Are Forever (Like Bond, with wildly different appearences and personas). He also sort of showed up in the opening of For Your Eyes Only, although he is never referred to by name; and of course the Thunderball remake, Never Say Never Again. The rights over Spectre, Blofeld and Thunderball's story of course were part of an infamous lawsuit by Kevin McClory but I think the rights finally shifted back to the Bond producers.

Of course the classic Blofeld is shown as bald with a cat, but if Waltz is indeed playing Blofeld it seems they're sticking with something slightly closer to the original Fleming novel material (SPECTRE and Blofeld are introduced fairly late in the novel series, in Thunderball). Unless he shaves himself bald and has a cat.

    Favourite Bond: Daniel Craig
    Favourite Bond Film: Casino Royale
    Favourite Bond Girl: Claudine Auger

I would say that my least favourite Bond is Timothy Dalton. It's hard to rank my least favourite films since many of them haven't stood the test of time (especially in light of Casino Royale). But I would say Octopussy, Diamonds Are Forever and Licence to Kill, are my least favourites.

Bond is like Batman in that regard. Some people are totally attached to the zanier Adam West/ Brave and the Bold style. Some love the serious yet stylized take from the Burton movies and others like strictly serious Nolan. Some like a bit of everything.

For my taste the Daniel Craig movies work best for today with the Sean Connery movies being best of the vintage. The interesting thing about people being more attached to the suave style movie era is that the author intended for Bond to be a dull person whom things happened to and "wanted him to be a blunt instrument". He even thought "James Bond" was a very boring Anglo-Saxxon name hence he chose it.

Anyone else want Henry Cavill as James Bond, when they make another one? I think he can bring back the Pierce Brosnan-esque suaveness to the Bond role. Most will claim Connery as their Bond and after 2 pretty good movies, there will most likely be a lot of Daniel Craig Bond fans.

The one actor that I thought really personify James Bond was Pierce Brosnan. For the next Bond movie, I think they should give the role to Henry Cavill.
