Dark Reign was by far my favorite event or era. Everything put out under that banner was interesting and looked great.

Annihilation/Conquest/War of Kings/Realm of Kings/Thanos Imperative (I see this as one long continuous event)
Siege
Chaos War

Honorable Mentions:
A lot of the tie-ins for Fear Itself and Secret Invasion are some of my favorites.
Infinity was great too.
Parts of AVX were great for me as well.

I'm gonna go with special series and mulltiple cross overs in the same story line as events, which rules out Under Seige (only went down in Avengers book, with very few tie-ins and out of the book ramifications), Mutant Massacre (mostly it was several one-themed storylines running in different books, with very little actual crossing-over) and other "eventful" storylines.

If you define an event as being a cross-over with many tie-ins then:

Infinity Gauntlet w/ all tie-ins and Thanos Quest and Silver Surfer Vol. 3 prologue
Annihilation w/ all Tie-ins, Thanos #7-12 as a prologue

If you include a linear story-line that takes place over many titles which may have some tie-ins then:

Starlin's Complete Warlock Saga (Strange Tales 178-181, Power of Warlock #9-15, Marvel Two in One Annual #2, Avengers Annual #7) plus the Marvel Team Up #55
