Default New to comics. Thoughts needed.

Hi everybody. I'm new to comics and CBR. What are your thoughts on the following titles? Along with a bunch of awesome looking Image books, I'd like to give these a try but don't want to commit until I get some feedback.

    Locke & Key

    and

    Death Vigil.

    Thanks!

I really like Locke & Key. Bought the whole thing on a comixology sale last Yule and then read the whole thing in one sitting.

Put simply a really good story and great characters that makes the most of a really interesting concept.

I'll probably buy it in physical if they'll collect it in 2-3 HC:s or an omnibus!

Death Vigil's fun with fantastic artwork. It was a real surprise to me. It has a more manga-feel to it in that the characters are dealing with dark adversaries but with an often light-hearted comraderie. I'd recommend at least trying it out. Locke and Key I've never gotten into but it's definitely worth checking out as I hear constant praise for it. I think you're off to two good starts!

I read the first issue of Death Vigil last night! Holy cow, it's beautiful. I love it. Will give Locke and Key a read later today. Thanks for the replies.

Thanks Choos. Can anybody recommend a superhero title that isn't from DC or Marvel? Also, how's Dark Horse these days?

The Project Black Sky stuff from Dark Horse is both superhero and very good. I highly recommend it. Ghost is my favorite but all three are great (Captain Midnight and X).
    Pulls:
Coffin: La Muerta, Lady Death, Hellwitch. Valiant: Shadowman. DC: Poison Ivy.

Invincible is pretty much all you need.

    That said;

    Savage Dragon
    Witchblade (superhero-esque)
    COWL
The Valiant books (in particular XO Manowar & Quantum & Woody)

Spawns getting a new team with 151 and is returning to a more super-heroic aesthetic.

Locke & Key is really, really good. You cant go wrong with that series. Re Dark Horse: BPRD is (and has always been) absolutely fantastic.
Current favourites: BPRD, Baltimore, Deadly Class, Zero, Prophet, Lazarus, East of West, MindMGMT

I'm keen to try Spawn. I've actually read a bit of Invincible but there's just too much to catch up on at this point.

I've read the odd Hellboy but never any BPRD. Thanks for the suggestions all.
Pull: Copperhead, Dark Engine, Death Vigil, Locke & Key, Starlight, and Wytches.

TMNT. If you count them as super heroes. It's incredibly good and consistent.

I'd love to give TMNT a try. Is there a recent (or will there be) jump on point I can begin at?

Harbinger from Valiant is a great read, tremendous world building and an introduction into one corner of the Valiant Universe. X-O Manowar as well, if you are interested in a more sci-fi superhero experience.

Two issues ago, #38, was the start of a new arc and a decent starting point. With any ongoing.. there are going to be threads picked up from earlier stories, of course.

I'd say aside from issue 1, the best jumping on point is the start of City Fall.. with issue 22. Or the one-off right before it in #21.
