    BEER!

    Be it about your favorite brew, a unique experience with a particular beer, preferences (draught/bottle/can/etc?), best way to enjoy a cold one, or an interesting story with a beer as the focal point. Or anything else about the alcoholic beverage produced by the saccharification of starch and fermentation of the resulting sugar.

    The backstory behind this image:
    I was being deployed to Iraq, and the commercial plane I was on made a stop at Leipzig, Germany. It was a scheduled 2-3 hour layover, but ended up being an overnight stay due to the plane suddenly needing repair.

    Anyway... this was my first ever taste of German beer this was to be the last beer I'd get to drink for several months, as we weren't allowed to consume alcohol in Iraq. (Not that it stopped some people there but that's another story)

    It was a pretty strong brew, and I loved it. Savored it, alonside a bratwurst, as if it would be last I'd have for months. If I ever find myself in Germany again I'm looking this bad boy up.

    Supplemental story: while I was taking this photo some other guys (soldiers and airmen) at a nearby table were looking at me and stopped just short of LOLing me. Well, I now have a photo of my first German brewski and they didn't... suckers!

    Nice one. You know, I've yet to be able to attend an actual fest. Believe me I've tried but I'm either unable to make it or they sell out all tickets.

    Funny stumbling onto this right now. I am having a Gnomegang by Ommegang. I haven't had this one yet, or even seen it in Colorado. It is great stuff, a blond.

    Even though I live essentially in the middle of nowhere, a craft cocktail and beer bar and restaurant opened up recently. On average, they'll have 16 different microbrews on tap (everything to seriously hoppy IPAs to ridiculous stouts that are roughly 18% abv), and their selection changes weekly.

    It makes me happy.
