    Default cover contest: 10/15-21

    RULES

Post one (and only one) cover that fits the theme of this week's contest.
Cover must be from a published comic book or collected volume.
Covers must be posted before voting begins.
Voting begins 12 AM Tuesday and runs until 12 AM Wednesday PST.
Vote by posting the name in bold of the poster whose cover best fits the theme or that you simply like the most.
The winner of the contest is the entrant with the most votes after the voting period.
It's okay to discuss the covers but if you think someone's entry doesn't fit the theme or violates the rules, you don't need to argue it in the thread, simply don't vote for it.
Most importantly please remember that we're here to have fun. Enjoy!

Thanks again for the fishtacular votes! Since my birthday is on the 25th (still 10 shopping days!), the theme for this week is... HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Anything having to do with birthdays-- parties, anniversary issues, presents, cake! Be creative!

EDIT: Switched covers for something a little more birthday-y.

It took some doing, but I found a Star Wars comic that fits the theme. This is a Spanish comic called MyComyc. The series ran for eight issues, with the first seven containing a two-page comic strip featuring R2-D2 and C-3PO. The Ewoks ran in all eight issues, also a two-page strip. The Star Wars strips were then reprinted in a single issue.

    This one.

Hope is not lost today. It is found.

Well, hell. Bert got the one I was thinking of... let's see... how about another birthday that went horribly wrong?

You can find a bunch of books I wrote stories for here. The weekly column is here.

Very clear memory of buying that one off the racks at Woolworth's in Houston

(I actually recalled it being on a Digest cover too, slightly re-drawn and looking slightly more birthday cake-y. . .but turns out that was an interior page)

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.
