"A happy ending? So unlikely. We're not having a moment here.
Wrong city, wrong people, all huddling in fear.
No one escapes the slaughterhouse, and that's just where you're at.
(You could've asked Rebecca but then Adam stomped her flat.)
You think you're special cuz you're scrappy? You're deluded, time to go.
Lucy's living on the moon but you're another dead psycho."
Should I take this as the official announcement of Squirrel Girl: The Movie?
Ah, she did well against Nebula, though she might know her well as sisters, so there is that. But, a cyborg/alien v alien like her...expect Nebula to have done better, but did well, I think, even if Spoiler she didn't take the final shot.
I don't know that she was a damsel in distress, but maybe she could've been wiser, wilier, fiercer. Maybe she was. Maybe further viewings, y'know? Or the sequel could sort it out, even if, as it now stands, she's no Susan Storm-Richards. I know Sue isn't called that, but I like both surnames together, generally.

She needed to be saved from three prison thugs
Needed to be saved from Drax
Needed to be saved from space
Finally, she was rendered helpless by two pirate thugs holding her wrists, to which she could only helplessly struggle and scream at them to leave Starlord alone.
Basically, Gamora was powered waaaay down in this movie. I'm hoping that, either in the sequel or in the animated series, they make her into a proper badass.
Back on topic, I'd like to see a Nebula movie, she was cool and hell yes on Ms.Marvel.

Well, now that DC/WB has placed all their cards on the table, Marvel has to perfect opportunity to battle anything they threw at them.
First, lets start with Doctor Strange, rumored for July 8, 2016. One of the names being brought up for the role is Oscar Isaac. Quite frankly, look-wise, he's perfect for the part. He's also a great actor, so he could pull the acting off too. And he's also Guatemalan/Cuban. At the moment, the MCU is pretty white, especially when it comes to it's leading men. This is the first step at changing that.
Secondly, there's the whole "boys club" issue. All the MCU's leads are men. DC just announced Wonder Woman, which means she'll be the first "modern" aka post-Iron-Man female led superhero movie. Well, Marvel has the May 7, 2017 date ready. Lets bring on the ladies. Now, not just any lady. Black Widow just wont cut it against Wonder Woman. So that's why it has to be Captain Marvel, because she's much more marketable as a superhero than Black Widow. And with that, Marvel just barely gets the first female led superhero movie out. Also, introduce Spider-Woman as a supporting character.
DC/WB has Cyborg announced, which will be the first post-Iron-Man superhero film with a black lead. So on November 3, 2017, debut Black Panther. Once again beating DC to the punch, but also introducing a Marvel character that we all know will get a movie a some point anyway.
Now for the knock-out, Young Avengers. A team consisting of Hulking and Wiccan, making them not only the first openly gay heroes and the first same-sex couple in he MCU, but the first mainstream gay heroes to be in a movie. There's also a female legacy of a male hero with Kate Bishop's Hawkeye. And an African-American "Captain America" with Patriot. It also does something DC/WB has failed to do: give us a movie focusing on young superheros. DC/WB could have done a Teen Titans movie, but despite it being a known and popular "brand", they chose not to. So Young Avengers is another way for Marvel to do it "first".
Maybe slip in a Black Widow movie, which can be used to also flesh out Winter Soldier, Hawkeye, and the soon-to-be-introduced Mockingbird; and that's another female led movie. And introduce the Inhumans as well and have their movie end with terrigan gas being released leading to Ms. Marvel. Plus the Inhumans are an interesting element to add to the MCU, especially around when he MCU will likely be going through major changes.
Seems to me the most logical choice is the Carol Danvers version of Ms Marvel or Captain Marvel to lead a solo movie. She has the back story and power level to really assert herself in the MCU. And no disrespect to the new Ms Marvel, but if any female character in Marvel "deserves" this push, its Carol. She has been flexed on and off of the back burner for nearly 50 years, and it's time to let her shine.
I think Captain/Ms Marvel could explode in popularity well beyond what Black Widow has in her various supporting roles. Especially if Marvel follows their formula that has put most of their films over the top. In fact, I don't even think it would be close if we got a well done, quality Carol Danvers centered movie. She would be head and shoulders above Black Widow immediately.
Not to mention it would finally give the Marvel brand a Wonder Woman counter that they have NEVER had.
I agree with Dboi654, lets get a Black Panther movie first then lets worry about Black Widow. I hope its a team up film with Hawkeye tho since he clearly is never gonna get his own solo film
The thing about Black Widow is that, she's not a "superhero" in the traditional sense. not in the same way as, like, Batman or Superman or Thor or Iron Man or Captain America. What Marvel needs is someone on their level and that's Captain Marvel.
Another problem with just having Black Widow is, is she so popular because she's actually popular, or is it because she's the only option? When it comes to female heroes in film, she's pretty much it. There needs to be diversity, just like there is with the men. Just sticking with Black Widow isn't enough.
Especially now that DC has broken out Wonder Woman. Marvel needs their own Wonder Woman, and that's not Black Widow.
