    Default Batroc Appreciation

It means "Mr. Batroc is the master of the art of Savate".

It is beneath Batroc's dignity to sprinkle his English with poorly-structured french phrases used by American writers.

    "Zut alors!"
    "Is it not très formidable!"
"Nom du chien! Your intolerance is insufferable, insupportable! For that, you shall pay un mille fois!"

The correct phrase is "Nom d'un chien!" (good heavens, good grief)

When was the last time Batroc defeated Captain America?

    http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batroc

I had goosebumps when they said his name in the movie. It was cool to see the character trade kicks with Cap.

To commemorate the U.S.-France relations, it is time to sing the Star-spangled Banner.

    http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Star-Spangled_Banner

Oh say, can you see by the dawn's early light

What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?

Whose broad stripes and bright stars thro' the perilous fight,

O'er the ramparts we watch'd were so gallantly streaming?

And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air

Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.

Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore, dimly seen through the mists of the deep

Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,

What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,

As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Nous dévoile et nous cache ?

Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,

In full glory reflected now shines in the stream

Tis the star-spangled banner! Oh long may it wave
C'est la bannière étoilée ! Oh puisse-t-elle longtemps flotter

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore

That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,

A home and a country should leave us no more!
Ne nous laisseraient ni terre ni patrie !

Their blood has washed out of their foul footsteps' pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave

From the terror of flight and the gloom of the grave

And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Oh !

Between their loved home and the war's desolation!

Bles't with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land

Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.

Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,

And this be our motto: « In God is our trust ».

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Batroc is fun. An interesting adversary and mercenary. I just reread the Man with No Face Captain America arc and voila! GSP did a fine job in CATWS.

I'm actually practising savate at home now! I've been wanting to learn a fighting style for a year now, and savate appeals.

Sorry for the necro-bump, but Batroc's finest hour has to be in Captain America #251-252.

    This is why. https://scans-daily.dreamwidth.org/4395543.html

Batroc was working with Mr. Hyde, who threatened to ram an oil tanker into New York City and blow it up if they didn't get paid. Their only other demand was that Captain America surrender himself, and when he did they chained him to the front of the ship. Hyde then planned to ram the ship into the city anyway, and when Cap broke free, Batroc revealed that he knew Hyde would double-cross him, he couldn't stand to see him murder so many innocents, and he specifically requested Captain America's presence because of all the heroes out there he knew he'd have the best chance at stopping Hyde. They tag-team Hyde and come out on top, and Batroc almost escapes with the money before being caught.

I too appreciate "Batroc ze Leapair"!

The Master of Savate is to me a rogue with some sense of honor and a great adversary for the likes of Steve Rogers and Iron Fist as shown above.
