Brian's still got that awful beard. I assume he's missing his eye, too.

Yeah, didn't Black Panther make it so those events never happened?

X-MEN GOLD ANNUAL #1
Written by MARC GUGGENHEIM & LEAH WILLIAMS
Art by ALITHA E. MARTINEZ
Cover by ALAN DAVIS
This January, get ready for an X-Men story so big, Marvel enlisted*two*superstar writers to bring it to life. Written by Marc Guggenheim (X-Men Gold) and Leah Williams (Secret Empire: Brave New World) with art by Alitha E. Martinez (Black Panther:*World of Wakanda), the original Excalibur team will reunite for an exciting adventure that both long-time fans and new fans can enjoy.
But getting the gang back together proves to have its own challenges…and who is the new Braddock bundle of joy?
I don't like Guggenheim or X-Men Gold but I will be getting that Annual.
(All the while secretly hoping it's a backdoor pilot for a new Captain Britain or Excalibur book.)
It's always been kind of weird that pretty much every X-Men satellite title has been relaunched nostalgically with its original line-up - except Excalibur.
But I find it hard to believe we'd ever see it now. For an annual, sure. But Kitty, Kurt and Rachel are never going to be allowed to leave the main X-Titles for another Excalibur run. It just won't happen, sadly.
I'll buy it, of course (first Marvel title in over a year by that point) but I won't get my hopes up. It's an Annual. Nothing more, right now.
Would have been great to have Lockheed there too, though.

I remember that well. My brother and I used to go to our local SPAR on the main road to get our regular Marvel UK fix and were pretty dismayed when they didn't get one of the comics we collected (which was basically every Marvel UK comic that was being published at the time). The Daredevils wasn't always easy to get hold of. We then had to go into town to scour the newsagents to see if we could find the missing issue in question.
