    Default Marvel recommendations

Does anyone have any recommendations for any Marvel titles I could read? I'm not a seasoned comic "veteran", and I have never really even read Marvel because I don't know where to jump on, but I have always wanted to read Marvel. The same goes for DC. I have always thought Ghost Rider, Swamp Thing (DC), Hulk, Juggernaut, Silver Surfer, and Colossus would be cool characters even though I don't really know too much about any of them. I have a hard time reading ongoing monthly comics because I always forget what happened previously. I am looking for a good story that isn't too short and has some length to it, but has already come to a conclusion. Thanks.

Try Marvel unlimited if you don't mind readin digital. You can read Astonishing X-men #1-24, the Galactus trilogy, Planet Hulk etc. For Swamp Thing check out Moore's saga of the swamp thing

Welcome, Bandito. I'd say you're a lot better off jumping onto current titles and going back to find similar material in collected stories later. Whedon's Astonishing X-Men and Jason Aaron's Ghost Rider are good stories that have finished, but they're not quite as new reader oriented as the current titles.

Colossus is coming back to the X-Men under the new writers for Amazing X-Men. Ghost Rider, Hulk, and the Silver Surfer have brand new series, and I personally recommend (the new) Ghost Rider's book. Without a strong tie to the history of the characters I think you're better off finding a style you like than characters that seem kinda interesting. There are a lot of new books I'd vouch for, like Moon Knight.

As a fan of X-Men I would also recommend Astonishing X-Men. Colossus is part of that story

Speaking of those two writers (Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost), one of them (Yost) recently ended a 25-issue series called Scarlet Spider I recommend a lot. Its main character is the dark mirror of Peter, Kaine, his tougher-looking clone "brother" as he tries to do some good and then becomes Houston's resident superhero - something that utterly annoys him.

It is a lot of fun.

The tone that Scarlet Spider had is the exact tone I hope he brings to Amazing X-Men. Agree on the recommendation.
