Hmm..that atlas/unifying statement now seems to shed light at least a little on why Dr.Strange is so helpful to doom. Perhaps that's the view Strange sees.

Edit: I forgot about the reeds that got killed in his early run of FF. Wow!! the more and more I read the more I love this event!

This is truly the ultimate culmination of what hickman had planned. Lots of Continuity and Canon being shoved in readers faces. Now it's just the ultimate test who knows it. Also those who've read jim starlin's work.

This also seems to again speak to the theories that these are the 616 ff members. Since he said doom put himself as head of reeds family

I expected that they talked a bit more about Scott's death. After all, if he was only present in this event in order to job for Doom, it would be expected that either Hickman or Brevoort focused a little on that. Well, lets hope that this silence means that PhoenixClops (or the Phoenix at least) still has a role that neither one wanted to spoil. That or the build up in TRO and Secret Wars is very big let down, especially as no one was expecting that Scott and/or the Phoenix played a part in this if Hickman had not teased it.

It was nice to have it admitted that it requires Doom to actively hold Battleworld together, or it just floats apart. So it's not a planet, per se, with an Iron Core that can produce a strong gravity to maintain its own integrity? It's just a comet full of boulders rolling around each other, and if Doom wasn't there, it would all be detritus drifting in White Space. Like river valley crust. It really isn't made up of what could be considered ideal planet strata. Doom just plucked crust material of each Earth, so one wonders what exists under the first layer of crust of Battleworld? Is it completely empty?

I caught that too, it's the way he worded it. But I won't be surprised if he was telling the truth.

It's a reference to the original Secret Wars when Cap shakes Doom's confidence enough that reality starts to unravel. It's a testament to Doom's willpower that he's holding up this long. And, the Reed-Doom rivalry is, in my opinion, the classic rivalry of Marvel.

So far Hickman has more-or-less hit all the main plot points of the original crappy Secret Wars but in ways that are dramatic and emotional. For the first time since Civil War I really can't imagine where each issue will go or how it will all wrap up. That's an extreme rarity in comics.

He is the Phoenix. He could resurrect, and if he doesn't that leaves the question of where the PF will go.

How correct you are....Xavier and Magneto...Wolverine and Sabertooth...Osborn and Parker...classic as they may be in terms of rivalries, NOTHING compares to Doom and Richards...and I believe we are going to see the ULTIMATE battle coming....Doom in this issue is just the MAN! Hickman...we love you so much for your awesome writing!

I was a bit surprised that it was admitted that the Raftees are showing up in the Tie-ins already, yet we haven't noticed the transition from Secret Wars #4 to the tie-ins. I thought there would be more evidence that Raft people are in Ultimate End and elsewhere, like showing a character porting into a book, like Thanos in Infinity Gauntlet and Cyclops and Spiderman into Ultimate End. Who knows. Maybe the Portal in Ultimate End was evidence of Raft arrivals?

The conversation between Reed and Doom is also interrupted by the Phoenix-possessed Cyclops who attacks Doom and is ultimately killed by him. Doctor Strange uses the distraction of their fight to teleport the heroes and villains from the life rafts away. I imagine we'll see some, if not all, of these characters in future issues of "Secret Wars," but is this also a way of setting up those characters' appearances in other "Secret Wars" titles like Star-Lord in Sam Humphries and Alti Firmansyah's "Star-Lord & Kitty Pryde" series and Miles Morales in Brian Bendis and Mark Bagley's "Ultimate End"?

Brevoort: It allows for those appearances, certainly yes. If you like you can follow them over to those titles. It's almost as if we planned it!

With "Secret Wars" #4 we're at the half way point now. Events are just going to accelerate from here on out. We've set the scene. We've laid out the world. You kind of understand the stakes and the playing field, and yet it's still a fairly hopeless situation because even assuming that you chose to unseat Doom, and even if you were actually able to carry through with that and do it without destroying Battleworld itself, which only he is keeping together, that still doesn't get you much more than this chaotic hodge-podge planet. So there's still a lot of work for any of these characters to do before they even begin to have a plan.

I know some of you just really want Cyclops to matter and their be something deeper than him just getting punked but... I think he just got punked guys. Do we really have to have another Phoenix discussion?

Cyclops was never hinted nor teased. he was just added and taken out. It was to show the power of doom and that this isn't going to be the PF easy button win. This was a setup for the FF grand finale..... a final send off of you will.
