    - A few dailies from Vol. 2. While Vol. 1 is great, with Vol. 2 Segar really hit his stride art- and humor wise:

    Pompeii via Johnny P. Sartre:

Pompeii was surprisingly good. I've never read comic by Santoro but I have read his comic analysis essays (which I recommend y'all read).

Pompeii tells the story of a young couples' days before the eruption during the eruption and it's end. Frank is able to capture young love and anger perfectly. His art and storytelling is stripped to their minimum, only what's essential to the story is shown.

And it works really well. It's amazing how Frank is able to capture a range of emotions with just minimal lines. Those emotions come out perfectly through the characters facial expressions (which is the highlight of the comic, they're wonderfully done) and his very abstract use of body motions.

His panels are very minimal as well, one tier three panels is the structure mostly used in the comic and it works perfectly. And when he's not using that, he uses huge expansive panels to show a burst of emotions or whatever landscapes are ruling the story.

    Highly recommend Pompeii

    Technopriests via RedNave:

Oh hey, it finally showed up, what I can say about Forbidden Planet is they probably have the best packaging I've seen and one of the best delivery times once dispatched, the only problem being getting to that dispatched stage takes yonks

i read the intro/interview with jack katz and the first few pages of the first kingdom. seems like this story is completely bonkers and every page is filled with incredibly detailed art.
