Are DC Archives in color?
Check out my blog: http://comicbuffet.blogspot.com/

Favorite Marvel Heroes: Daredevil, Spider-man, X-23, Iron Man, Iron Heart
Currently Reading: Robin Vol 4, Iron Man, Teen Titans, Titans, Justice League of America Vol 5, Champions Vol 2, Invincible Iron Man Vol 3, Frank Miller's Daredevil
yes but I think at this point that line is done I don't think any new Archives came out in the last year or two.
The only DC books not in colour are the Showcase presents ones, Noir which are taller than deluxes, black and white versions and IIRC only Batman related and the Unwrapped line which are deluxe hrdcovers but only featuring the pencil art and lettering.
Which archives are you planning to pick up? Some material is getting republished as chunky trades (mentioning it in case you plan to pay cover price or above for an oop Archive)
I need help making a decision.
I can pick up $150 in books this Friday.
Here's my wish list only OHC's keeps my choices and spending to a minimum this way.
Scalped 1-5
DMZ 2-5
Lazarus 1-2
East of West
Deadly Class
Black Science
Walking Dead 2-6 Omnibus
Nameless
Nailbiter
Spider-Man McFarlane Omnibus
52 Omnibus
Dark Tower Omnibus
Batman Golden Age Vol 2
Star Wars Shattered Empire
Sleeper Omnibus
Green Arrow by Lemiere
Absolute Sandman 1-5
Absolute Watchmen
I can't decide
Tough decision indeed. I'm a Watchmen junkie, so I would pick that first no matter what alongside Sandman (essential reading). The book I wasn't expecting to like as much but ended up loving was the 52 omnibus. It's really great stuff. Nailbiter, East of West, Scalped, and DMZ are safe picks as well. Hope this helps but you have too many really great choices here
I'd love to say Sandman, but you're not getting five absolutes for $150 so I'm tossing it out. I'd go with a good combination of the Vertigo and Image books for a nice variety, quantity, and quality. Try the first volumes of all, then decide which you like and want to continue with. Personally, I'd remove Nameless from this list, I read it in single issues and thought it was complete ****, the worst of Morrison in my opinion.
Of that list, I would remove Green Arrow (it's pretty good, but places in comparison to other books on the list), Star Wars: Shattered Empire (it's not good), Batman: The Golden Age (I found the stories almost unreadable), Spider-Man Omnibus, Dark Tower, 52, and Nameless (it's bad).
I assume you read the first volume of DMZ as you only want volumes 2-5. You can decide if you want to keep reading it or not based on that.
I would go Lazarus 1-2, East of West, Absolute Watchmen, and the first Absolute Sandman. That might be a little over $150 on instock though.
Absolute Watchmen would be a no brainer since you know, it's Watchmen but you can get it in deluxe as well if you are not too fussy. And you can throw in maybe the Sleeper omnibus since it's frekkin' amazing.
Also bloody good reads are Scalped, like really damn strong and Sandman too but as others said you won't get all five for $150.
52 is a great superhero story but not sure about the build quality and it' really big and has the black cardboad cover. Sleeper has that too but the binding is great and it's half the size.
My vote for go for Watchmen, Sleeper and Scalped because you get a complete story with all 3 (I think all 5 Scalped deluxes could fit in your budget) and all 3 are damn good!
Black Science, East of West, Lazarus and Deadly class are great as well but they are not finished yet and who knows when will be (that's not a bad thing though but personally I like to go for complete series).
I liked Nameless, I think as a horror it's effective but have to reread it. But I'm a Morrison apologist. Wouldn't get that though instead of any of the above listed books.
Well, I would pick up the Sleeper Omnibus (amazing, really amazing noir super heroes), East of West (there's already enough material to Volume 2 i guess), one of the Absolute Sandman and one or two volumes from Lazarus.
Nailbiter is a cool comic, but in my opinion it's not a story to reread much, its has more impact reading it the first time, i wouldn't buy it in HC...
So are there only 3 omnibus collections(or just collections in general really) of the classic/original Valiant comics? Anyone know if more are planned?
DMZ or Scalped !
