Question for you guys: I just noticed the 45% off for DC/Image went up on IST. How long does it usually last for? I'm trying to make a big purchase w/ the discount, but I'd prefer holding off for a while because I'm planning on having my additional 2% carry over in time for certain book I know I'll be buying last week of the month.

Unless you email them and ask and they're nice enough to tell you, there isn't really any way to know if the image doesn't have the end date on it.

Sometimes these 45% off things last a month. Sometimes they last a week.

This particular AE has been OOP for a while now as well. Even the second print goes for silly money atm.
I agree. While I highly respect IDW for making Wood's original work affordable to those with even a passing interest in comics art, I think the silly money the Artist's Edition goes for on (which is about the retail cost of 2 11x17 AEs) is more than worth it for the size upgrade from the Artisan. That said, if you simply can't afford it, I've seen the MAD Artist's Edition go for a third of that on eBay and it's still in-stock on IDW's website. That has some prime Wood, Will Elder and Jack Davis artwork that isn't in the Artisan Edition.

Argh, anyone know a good place to find The Eternaut in the US now for retail price? I freakin' missed the boat, it seems.

Epic things: "TOPANGA" (GHA), Jaxson & Zefferson (PRO), Lucas (SHEL)

Canadian Amazon has it...will they ship to the US? I'd assume the US amazon will have it soon anyway as it only became available again this past week in Canada.

Some good stuff from Fantagraphics. A preview in gif form of Patience by Daniel Clowes and an extended preview of the first volume of The Complete Crepax. The latter's a huge oversized thing, so I'm glad to see that it looks to lay flat perfectly.

Fanta's build quality is really good usually.

Anybody can convince me about Crepax? It's erotic fiction right? I was never into erotic fiction, even Alan Moore couldn't make that work for me, always wanted to try Empowered but the sex side of it just didn't appeal to me.
Don't get me wrong, I like sex just as much as anybody else and don't mind it in my genre fiction when it works in the plot, like Sex Criminals, but these erotic fiction books like Lost girls, Manara stuff and such just don't appeal to me. If I want porn I just watch porn.

Doubt you'd like Crepax's work then, Balakin. What got me interested in Crepax, before I knew that Fantagraphics would be translating his work, was Sarah Horrocks' essays I found on her blog - which you can read here, albeit with the images no longer available - and this other essay by her on Comics Alliance here, which does have images of Crepax's art style, both in black and white and colour. All enough to convince me - if the incredible looking art didn't alone - to at least check out this first volume, although I imagine that because I do enjoy porn comics, I'll probably be picking up more of these if he truly is as amazing as he sounds and looks.

Honestly I doubt Crepax will be your thing if you're not really into erotic/porn comics, although his art and command of the medium might override your aversion to that kind of material.
Crepax and Manara are pretty different though (aside from the fact that they're both Italian and make "porn" comics). Manara is more straightforwardly erotic and Crepax is more comparable to Steranko on the storytelling front (it wouldn't surprise me if they read each other's comics back in the day) only most of his comics are erotic (with a SM edge). I haven't read the books that Fanta will be translating first but Bianca (which Horrocks wrote about) is an amazing kaleidoscope of a comic. Tashen did a pretty nice HC a few years ago collecting that together with "Emanuelle" and "Venus in Furs" which might be a good one to pick up to see if it's your thing if you can find a cheap copy.
