same, read the first 5-6 issues hoping for a new Fear agent but it was just meh for me. Couldn't relate to anybody, didn't even know who most of the cast was going issue by issue and most of the plot was just "look at this crazy thing we are throwing in".
Maybe it will read better in big chunks?

Well, better not look at the publisher's website where there are some amazing editions of British strips, like these:

    https://www.bookpalace.com/acatalog/...e_Briton_.html

    https://www.bookpalace.com/acatalog/Frank-Bellamy.html

And you particularly shouldn't look at examples of artwork in, say, "Heros the Spartan" or "Wulf the Briton" like these:

    https://www.bookpalace.com/acatalog/Heros27-L.jpg

    https://www.bookpalace.com/acatalog/...sWulf260-L.jpg

I ordered the "King Arthur" collection last night, since new copies can be had for around £1 on Amazon UK. The others, especially Wulf and Heros, I'd love to get my hands on (14 inches tall!), but I overspent a bit on comics recently.

it's a good thing then you didn't provide any links and I didn't look....oh wait
how is the storytelling? Never read any British strips except a few Dredd which I didn't like. Oh and also some Doctor Who which was okay but nothing exceptional.

Haven't read any yet, but I'm about to delve into the Don Lawrence book. A clincher is definitely that the artwork looks amazing, plus they seem to be highly regarded e.g. by the folks in the MMW forums. They're just not as well known because they're British and not American.

Just looked a bit more into Bellamy's work: Dave Gibbons, Walt Simonson, John Byrne and Barry Windsor Smith are huge fans and three of those have provided forewords for Heros. This strip has apparently also had an influence on Miller's 300. All in all, this couldn't come with any higher recommendation. And damn. I'm really talking myself into buying it now.

Some oversized awesomeness greeted me late Friday. Except for TWD, the rest were blind buys. And, folks, let me tell you that Ragnarok is bad ass! I was a little hesitant. I'm a big Simonson fan, but a lot of the old school creators - Byrne, Miller, Claremont, etc. haven't impressed me these past 10-15 years. Now, that said, this is Thor the way Thor should be. We're talking Simonson writing and drawing his version of the Dark Knight Returns with Thor! The book collects the first six issues of what looks like will be a series. Mycomicshop solicited issue 7 and at the end of this books it says it concludes "Book 1." I got sucked in immediately. I started reading Private Eye, which is great, too, by the way, and for the heck of it decided to read just one issue in Ragnarok. Yeah, right. I read it in one sit-in. I'll post some pics of just that book shortly.

LOL. Not the whole time. Think of it as a spot check occasionally.
