That's the Avengers Vs X-Men Companion it's next to, I don't get how the GFT has over 200 more pages than that book, do Zeno comics have more story pages per issue or something?.

Best of EC vol. 1artist's Edition via LordJulius:

Yes!!! Best of EC Vol. 1 AE has finally arrived and it's another stunner:

    -the incredible Frazetta cover:

    - the opening spread by Marie Severin:

    - art by Krigstein that is reminiscent of Darwin Cooke (actually the other way round, of course):

    - some covers that kinda explain what ticked Wertam off:

    - beautiful minimalistic Alex Toth art:

    - and another size comparison - this time with the Wolverine Adamantium Collection:

There is so much amazing stuff in there, for example an unpublished story by Krigstein that did not get past the pencilling stage but is nevertheless complete with text, or Kurtzman's Corpse on the Imjin, one if the most powerful war stories of all time.

    The Smurfs Anthology via Drd:

So a few weeks back i posted about the Smurfs anthology, and there was a bit of a delay with shipping but its arrived and it's a really nice book. I don't know how many of you are a fan of these types of classic European comics but here's a couple pictures

The colours are really bright and crisp and its alot of fun to read. I've got my preorder in for volume 2 in November and looking at the list of paperback collections in the front and whats contained in this volume if they keep them all to a similar size there will probably end up being about half a dozen volumes which'll look really good on the shelf.

In a similar vein to the smurfs if anyone in the thread has any of the Asterix omnibus hardcovers and can let me know what the qualities like I'd be very grateful, I grew up reading Asterix and would love to re-read them in a nice hardback format.

The History of Beano via cloysterpete:

Just bought the History of the Beano hardcover, really nice book, well worth £14. I'll be ordering the DC one next, shame it's harder to find and has fewer pages. Flicking through the book it's great to look back at some of the comics I used to read way back when - printed in just red and black lol.

It really astonishes me that there is no way I can go back and read old Beano comics, it's just so odd. No-one has the room to store hundreds of the individual comics these days.

Why don't they ever collect the issues in omnibus volumes?, the comics had a weekly circulation of two million back in the day surely there's a market to sell a book say with every Beano comic included from a particular year. Can you imagine any American comic publisher having a series with thousands of issues and not bothering to release any of them in collected editions.

I thought I'd select a few interior pages but the are all pretty stunning, so I just took some random shots.
