On the good side least we can technically say that Doctor Doom is being spared from this.

Im still gonna remain optimistic since the same person who directed Chronicle is gonna be directing this and the same person who wrote the screenplay for DOFP is writing so hopefully they dont disappoint. It'll be really sad to see them make another shitty film after how good DOFP was. Plus I wanna see a FF/X-Men crossover film someday maybe use the House Of M storyline since they have rights to most the important characters like Magneto & Scarlet Witch

I'm amazed there are still people who are optimistic and have hope for this obvious train wreck.

Then it will be a refreshing surprise. Here's a question though: do you feel that the first two Fantastic Four movies remained true to the source material? Or do you think there were significant changes made that had nothing to do with updating it for the "21st century"?

I personally think Fox thought they could make a better story then the source material so they made significant changes to the plot (they severely reduced Mr Fantastic's age. They tied in Dr Doom with the origin of the Fantastic Four. They gave Dr Doom superpowers, they changed Galactus into a space cloud, they had Invisible Woman moan and groan about being a celebrity).

I don't think these changes made the movie experience better. I think sticking closer to the source material would have resulted in more entertaining movies. A reboot was a perfect opportunity to get a new take on the Fantastic Four that didn't repeat the same mistakes as last time. Again we have significant deviations from the source material (Mr. Fantastic is still young. Dr Doom is now a computer geek that's socially inept). COULD it be good for these changes? Could these changes be the right ones? Possible. But if they are, they've done nothing to explain why these changes make the movie better and what reasoning they used in making these changes.

Instead we get "people are ready for a black human torch" without responding to anything but a small minorities issues raised in having Johnny Storm be a black man (if Human Torch is the same in the movie as he was in the last two movies and the comic books, then we're going to get an angry black man whose used for comedy relief. Hardly sounds like the clarion call for racial diversity and equality. Which means we either get a depiction that feels a little bit racist OR we get even MORE deviations from the source material).

I feel it's safe to say the vast majority have no problem. Their choice of having the Human Torch be black and the Invisible Woman be white shows that either:
    1. They didn't know the source material well enough to realise that they're siblings.
    2. They didn't want an interracial couple as the stars (Mr Fantastic and Invisible Woman)
    3. They couldn't find a black actress that was just as good as Kate Mara.

I find it doubtful that they couldn't find a good black actress to costar alongside Michael Jordan, so that shows those doing the casting either a severe lack of knowledge on the source material or are blatantly racist.

Hallie Barry as Catwoman? The minority complained that she was black. The vast majority complained that it had only a passing resemblance to the source material. And it tanked. Why should we expect any different from this rebooted Fantastic Four?

Back when I had hopes for this movie, I was hoping that they'd be adopted; not only would that keep them as siblings, but it'd be a positive representation of multiracial adoptive families, which doesn't happen a lot in media (but Angelina Jolie gets a ****-ton of press for it anyway).

But now I care so little for the movie that they could do whatever they want and it'll probably be inconsequential, as it'll take a miracle to save the movie in any way, shape, or form.

In fairness though, before Halle Berry, the last black Catwoman we had was fantastic (RIP Eartha Kitt). So there was precedence there.

Anyway, back to the movie: yep, it's going to crash and burn, but it's given us at least one good comment: "Blogger Doom Vs. the Fantastic 4Chan. "

Evil blogger? That is such a bad idea, I feel like effort was put into making it.

"How can we make sure the villain is not at all taken seriously?"
    "Evil LARPer?"
    "Evil barista?"
    "Evil blogger?" "Bingo!"

Despite evidence to the contrary, I just can't see FOX f*****g up this bad. Especially after successfully revitalizing the X-Men franchise. There's gotta be something here that we're not seeing, right? maybe? please?!

I'd kind of want to see Marvel do a U-Foes movie as a counter to this.

I wonder if the actor is just taking the p*** out of everyone who reads these interviews (like us

that being said I really hope he is a blogger, as this will seriously turn FF into a car crash.

Gaaaaaah. Stop. Just. Stop it. Just. Make. It. Stop.

Can't marvel file some sort of legal injunction at this point to stop this movie from being made???

Oh, ok, I get it.... this is like that SG-1 episode, "Wormhole Extreme". They'll start off the movie with all of this glop, and then cut to the real FF, watching a TV show being made of their exploits... then we get on with the real movie. That, or this is intended to be a comedy...
