Emily Blunt would be good but I think she would have to pack on atleast 15 pounds for the role. Still liking Sackhoff though.

... "She has no head".. what?!?!

it would have to be someone who can eventually go toe-to-toe with the other actors in the Avengers movies. Doesn't have to be a current "a-list" type.

Its a blog about female comic characters. The name comes from the fact that too often in comics females are overly sexualized with porn star boobs and costumes.

I think Disney's first choice would be Jennifer Lawrence, but she's probably sick of franchise roles. And she'd be expensive.

Yvonne Strahovski (I probably spelled it wrong).

Refers to the cover of 1996(?)'s Supergirl #1, which portrays the character from the neck down.

I don't understand the Strahovski and Sackhoff cult mentions. They aren't that well known of actresses to the general public, and this film will definitely cast someone at least some starlet who has some star power. Carol isn't as well-known as most Marvel Super-Heroes (Yet) and they are going to need someone who not only can act but sell this film as well.

I don't know who half the people on the list are, but I was glad to see my top choices Theron and Chastain being mentioned (Even though Chastain confirmed no one has spoke to her about the film). Blunt seems like a inspired casting, but I have to see more of her action films (I've only really seen her in Devil Wears Prada) You won't see me complaining if Lawrence gets cast. She would make a brilliant Danvers.

Kristanna Loken , she's about 5 ft 11" , taller than a lot of those hollywood blondes.

Rebecca Romijn , she already involved in one superhero franchise , why not another ?

Laura Prepon - she was blonde before. She has a very distinctive voice.

From that list, I think Emily Blunt is the best option. She pulled off the action in Edge of Tomorrow and she has the chops to lead a film or stand toe to toe with the male dominant characters of the Avengers. My one concern with her would be the franchise aspect of the casting. I'm not sure if she would be the type to commit to playing the same role over and over, because it will most likely dominate her career from that point forward. That being said, I wouldn't have thought Robert Downey Jr would have gone for something like that either, but he did. So who knows.

One thing I don't get is the Sackoff obsession. General audiences aren't aware of her at all and I don't know that she could hold her own in the team movies where she would have to completely dominate the screen time she got to become memorable.
    I co-host a podcast about comics. Mostly it's X-Men comics of the 90's.

Unless they totally change up the origin story you have to pick an actress who is in her 30's. You've got to have someone who can credibly portray a Captain in the Air Force or Shield. She's not going to be some young 20 something just starting out in her career, she's an established vet. So sorry J-Law is just not credible for this role unless they change up the origin immensely. Katee Sackhoff will be 38 when this movie comes out and Yvonne Strahovski will be 36. Both are perfect ages for the character and her background. Charlize Theron would be good right now but by 2018 she'll be well on the wrong side of 40 meaning she'd be 50 something by the time she was done with Marvel movies assuming Captain Marvel shows up in 3-4 of them.

I don't buy that you have to have an established superstar in the role. None of the Chris's (Pratt, Evans, or Hemsworth) were well known when they were cast. Hugh Jackman was virtually unknown when he was cast as Wolverine. But in each case they obviously went with the best fit rather than finding a superstar for stunt casting ala Halle Berry as Storm which was a disaster. Marvel has established itself well enough now that they should find the best actress to fit the role instead of stunt casting someone like Jennifer Lawrence.

Yeah, Chris Hemsworth had done next to nothing in the U.S. prior to Thor. Pratt was mostly known for supporting roles and comedy.

Actually Sackhoff has proven she can hold her own with the alpha dogs in Riddick. Those guys make the Avengers team look like boyscouts.

Natalie Dormer from Game of Thrones is another good option I've heard being fancasted.
