Yeah, given how slow Bendis stories go, 8 issues for Tony to actually get back seems pretty reasonable. I mean after all, the latest issue was more or less just that like one panel from the legacy one shot stretched out over 20 pages, the story hasn't' even really started yet.
Now I'm curious if once the creative teams change if Riri will be joining Sam's previous side kick who was falcon, along with Steve's son who became Nomad. I'm sure all the abandoned sidekicks who were lost in creative team changes could make a team or a support group.
I'm sure she'll still be around in champions at least, but yeah Riri is in a weird position. Marvel hyped her to hell when it was announced she'd become the main character of Invincible Iron Man, but she hasn't really been a hit the way they have wanted. I could see them keeping her around in the main title for a bit longer but I wouldn't be surprised to see her gone in a year or two.
Lots of books in the past started off with problematic beginnings (Silk comes to mind) and have been better when a different creative team takes over. Sometimes the concept is good and the story gets dragged down. Other times we find out the concept wasn't good from the beginning and the character fades into obscurity. That being said, I'm sure somebody can make Riri work considering how divisive she is (and I don't think that divide is all that even really).
Post-Bendis we will get a better idea on how long Riri will stick around.

I don't expect she'll be a major presence once Tony takes over the book again, nor will Tony's "real mom" or the other characters he created in this run, but that's just the sense I get.

Meanwhile, Tony uh... is gonna have a kid with a random gal. His supporting cast is destroyed. He's acting like a 30 YO manchild. He has a "punk rockaaaaaa momma". Exciting storylines! But hey, YAAAAS KWEEEEN is here to stay! Lovely...
The next writer should just ignore Bendis's run like Bendis ignored Superior Iron Man
We need better comics
.....And speaking of X-Men & Iron Man.......there's an interesting appearance of a former X-Man within the Preview Pages for INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #594.
They did appear together in a couple of issues a few months back. Pepper even suited up as Rescue to fight the Techno Golem with Ironheart. The in story reason for her usually being absent is that she runs Resilient, a Stark Industries offshoot.
Probably a good thing that Pepper's absent right now actually. Because the artist in the last couple of issues seems to have had MJ grow out her bangs, leaving her and Pepper with the same hairstyle. In other words, it'd be hard to tell who's who.
