Also, going from that preview and past experiences, I have no faith in Geoff Johns's ability to write any POC, much less a character who is gay and Black.
You make great points. I wanted to see Kaldur for months, but the way he was presented left me quite detached.

Johns wrote him like a non-metallic Victor Stone.

Outside of Black Manta, Johns totally fails at writing black characters.

This is about WWE, but it applies to DC too.

    I agree, lol!

Didio, Lee, Harras, & even Johhns are like mobsters.

They fail time after time, yet remain in power.

    DC needs new leadership.

The fact that Bob Harras is even there is mind boggling.

Was it in the 80's series or Grant Morrison?

That's my point. If this were a character who had a ton of romantic history with women that'd be one thing, but Aqualad really doesn't. Even in the TV show his one onscreen female love interest was an ex who ended up dating his best friend (he really got did bogus).

Especially when he got fired from Marvel over not being able to bring in new readers in the early 2000's.

Being gay and black will somehow turning Atlantians using that as civil rights or something like that.
I seriously doubt anyone in Atlantis is gonna care that Aqualad is gay. If anything he'll face crap for having human parents (assuming that's still part of his origin.)

I think so. That was a plotline they were developing for him in the old books before the reboot cut it short, so I figure now that he's in continuity again they'll do more with it.

It's why I'm guessing Jackson will show up in Abnett's new Aquaman run, because Manta is going to be a a major threat in the first arc. Perfect time to introduce a new Aqualad and deal with his parentage.
