Loved the positive energy and outlook. Can't wait to see the tone of the next one my fingers are crossed for Mantis,Darkhawk, or Beta Ray Bill possibly drifting thru these films.

Gunn comes off as a bit of an egomaniac (how many times does he say, "that was me" or "that was written by me") but love his energy. Keep em coming!

Can't wait for GotG 2. And to pick up the first one on Blu-ray on 12/9.

The best of the MCU movies so far. I love how so many people felt it'd bomb before they saw it.

And how well Rocket was pulled off in the movie. For a CGI character to touch your feels like that.

Especially the scene that Gunn mentions where Drax pets Rocket's head. Just owww... poor lil guy.

    LOLZ!

Sorry, Pete, but it looks like Ronin won that one!

This movie was EXACTLY what it needed to be. Any sillier and it would lose people, too much hard-core cosmic and it would lose even more people.
Every one has there own opinion as far as how it "should" have gone down but speaking as some one who was on board with the Annihilation era team from day one this movie has the perfect balance. It had that renegade feel to it that was in keeping with the spirit of the original Star-Lord mini series and GotG Vol2 comic. Back then the GotG were doing there own thing and saving the galaxy whether earth or anybody else in space knew about it or not. They didn't need or want any validation from Stark, Rogers, Fury or Odin himself. "F" those guys the GotG were confident in the work they were doing they didn't need anybody else to recognize them for it.
The fact that he keeps re-stating that this is how he plans to keep things going forward, and not have them take backseat to the Avengers or any other super powered "earthlings" is why I'm so excited about this franchises future in film. It will lead the way and blaze a trail rather then follow in the footsteps that everyone else is trying to follow. Sadly, nowadays the GotG comics are doing the exact opposite, I'm hoping Gunn's words inspire the GotG creative teams a bit and will maybe get them to treat these characters with some of the the love that Gunn and most Annihilation era cosmic fans have for them.

The only thing about the movie I didn't like was that Ronan was such a flat character. In fact, that seems to be a problem with the Marvel movies; villains (except Loki) who just go "raaah! destroy!". But other than that it was a truly magnificent movie.

With that being said, just a heads up.

Bestbuy has the Guardians of the Galaxy exclusive steelbook 3D edition for pre-order at $19.99. [Which is a great price imo]. Amazon also price matched them but it's not a steelbook edition.

I don't know if we're allowed to link directly to the purchase page of things but it can easily be found by searching for "steelbook blu-ray" on their website.

I'm about to preorder it now.

The character's motivations and backstory are fleshed out a bit if you pay attention to when people talk about him.

Or when he's talking to the Nova Corps individual at the beginning of the film before he imitates Gallagher.

Ronan The Accuser: "They call me terrorist, radical, zealot because I obey the ancient laws of my people, the Kree.... and punish those who do not. Because I do not forgive your people for taking the life of my father, and his father, and his father before him. A thousand years of war between us will not be forgotten!"

He's just dedicated to the old code and is angry at the Kree for signing a peace treaty with the Xandarians ending their war.

I only saw this movie recently. This movie had a freaking talking raccoon and a talking tree as it's costar a. One of the costar a says a total of 3 words in the entire movie! This should not have been anywhere near as good as it was! Except for Gamora (who I don't think had the physique for the role, nor was she portrayed well on screen), this was just as good as Avengers.
