Default Sandman Mystery Theatre - Please Bring It Back!

Can I just say this is a title DC should bring back? It can eve be toned down a little and set back in the 1930s of the New 52 . . . Sandman could be an "urban myth" / tabloid creation in the eyes of the general public so he wouldn't upstage the 21st century appearance of Superman as the first publically recognized "superhero".

Please, DC? Can't we give it a try?

Well, Matt Wagner, Steve Seagle, and Guy Davis are all pretty busy at the moment, so I don't see it happening. I don't want another disaster like Sleep of Reason.

They should at the very least fully collect the series.

Yes, that needs to be done. And Shade, the Changing Man while they're at it.

Agreed. It's been a long time since the last volume was released.

Also agree on Shade and Human Target.

I'd like to see it come back, but certainly not in the New 52. Another mature Vertigo style version, please. I wouldn't mind mixing it up a bit within those parameters, though.

I'd also love to see these sorts of elements in the new 52 but they'd probably turn him into a modern day blogger, take away the trench coat and give him a suit with neon glow lines, then say "we gave you what you demanded!" .

Who knows, without any of the original brilliant team on it, it could suck. But if there was a great new 52 team on it, it could be just as awesome, my bottom line? It's my favorite series ever, after Swamp Thing, and I would love to see some kind of revival of it.

I love Sandman Mystery Theatre so much that I had the complete series bound into three custom hardcovers, including the Sandman Midnight Theatre prestige format one-shot and the short stories from Vertigo: Winter's Edge.

I always thought it would make a great TV series, or that Sandman could make a guest appearance (perhaps in a flashback) on Arrow or Flash. Back in the 1991 Flash TV show, I always figured the character Nightshade was a homage to the Golden Age Sandman anyway, so that would be a nice homage to a homage.

    Matt Wagner and Guy Davis?

    Matt Wagner and anyone?

Matt Wagner writing and Matt Wagner art?

Matt Wagner is pretty much the most important part of the equation.
