Default Movies you love except for that pesky ending!!!

Twist endings - sometimes brilliant pieces of filmmaking, but othertimes just the movie trying to be witty. Unfortunately the reality is that people are not as witty as they believe. Twist ending or not - its hard to wrap up films and sometimes they wrap up poorly.

Which films do you consider good....UNTIL the ending?

Heh, first movie that came to mind was Interstellar. Not bad as a successor to 2001 I think, but the third act was a little all over the place, imo.

I used to love the ending to Halloween:H20 but then they made Resurrection and now I can't watch that scene with out wanting to vomit.

Whenever this topic comes up, the first movie I always think of is The Ninth Gate with Johnny Depp. I was really, really into it right up until the very end. Literally, the last couple of minutes. I was like "Uh . . . what?! That's it?! What happened?!"

Also, Sam Raimi's Drag Me to Hell. I was really enjoying that movie a lot and thinking it was one of the best things I'd seen from Raimi, right up until the twist in the final minute. Alison Lohman's character was a sweet girl who did not deserve her fate. It felt like Raimi coldly rubbing his hands together going "This is what happens when you just try to do your job." I was totally prepared to buy the movie, but the ending completely ruined it for me. Absolutely cheap move.

And the less said about The Mist, the better.

As a kid, I loved Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, but once they defeated the Klingons and escaped from the Genesis planet, I'd always stop the movie there. The final scenes back on Vulcan just seemed so slow and boring to me compared to everything that proceeded it. Since then, though, I have no trouble finishing it out.

I didn't "LOVE" it but I thought "Snowpiercer" would have been far more interesting if they had ended with the Willy Wonka ending of "I give the train to you." --the subsequent crash and polar bear spotting ending was too silly for an already silly movie. Curtis being put in charge and having to decide how much he was willing to do to save humanity would have been better.

Rewatching Source Code reminded me of how bad an ending it was. It didn't make the story better in the slightest.

I was disappointed The Prestige turned out to be a sci-fi movie.

    The complete sacrilege of Kick-Ass.
We promised a faithful adaptation to the book and we were getting onebut from a point right after the middle and going all the way to the ending, we were watching a hypocritical abomination.
Another movie ending that disappointed me was Star Trek Into Darkness.
If they wanted a twist that would make a difference, they should let Kirk die.

agreed..i'd say the last 2 nolan films (inception, dark knight rises) had unsatisfying endings

I loved the ending to The Mist. It was so outer limits/ twilight zone.

The ending to The Forgotten ruined it (aliens? Really?)

    Prometheus was disappointing.

That seems odd to me, the ending twist is what brought the whole movie together.
