I actually liked the Mephisto bit, was funny to me. Tbh the dictator thing I feel is overblown since reed Richards did the same and it was received better tho it didn’t end well. Riri’s Alright to me but I feel like Sam Alexander she gets a lot of unnecessary hate and Bendis was kinda corny with the teacher situation which came off as problematic like him having miles say “I’m not black” and talk about howneha Puerto Rican like the two things can’t be are super wholly separate but omg lad that got blown past by other stuff cause it was annoying.

That and he killed war machine to further captain marvel and iron man’s character arcs and I’m annoyed over that still. Especially since thanos falcon punched rhodey

It wouldn't be true for a male character because men have a position of cultural dominance that they don't need empowering in the same way that women or minority groups do.

Again, just because she's mean doesn't mean she can't be empowering.

Empowerment is not about moral example, empowerment is about representation.

That's so odd, too. Like, Tony Stark is egotistical, Logan can be a grade A hole who can escalate wars, Ben Grimm and Thor were misogynistic (back in the day), Gambit can be a creep, Batman is obsessed, Punisher is outright psychotic, but they're all heroes, accepted and true. Even Punisher's face is on kids' shirts at Wal-Mart.

Yet somehow the impetus is on women to be well behaved to set the example in order to be empowering.

It's like only men are allowed the privilege to be complex characters and show that empowerment can take many forms, but women must adhere to strict rules of depiction.
