Brad Pitt for Grifter in a WildCATS movie
It is a very real thing. Men feel a certain sense of being able to police the actions of women both in life and in media. Cody had kind of demonstrated this by calling up Jessica Jones on the grounds that she is mean to people when she is a clear nod to the noir genre which is full of hard drinking, asshole male detectives.
In truth women can be as multifaceted and as flawed as men and having characters that reflect that complexity is a very important part of empowerment.
After Secret Wars ended, I kinda wished Battle World remained the status quo for Marvel...Can't say I feel to differently now.
Not to be contrarian, but I don't see what people are complaining about here?
Kid wants to feel a sense of persecution to fuel her ambition, which is a real thing, and then latches on to being the next Tony Stark.
It's not the most nuanced or clever writing but it's like... fine?

It just feels really awkward, in my opinion- at least without a bunch of other things to accompany it, giving it more context (which may or may not exist; I wouldn't know, not having read a comics since the mid-90s). The expectation of persecution is absolutely a real thing, as you've said (and I've witnessed on multiple occasions), but given the... quality of the writing, I can't help but kneejerk assume things about the reasoning behind the scene, especially if the reason for the expectation is left unstated but merely assumed.

Critics who treat adult as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence.

It didn't help that Secret Wars was the first event that got me interested in years but the aftermath was...lackluster. What really even changed?
The Fantastic Four are gone. Alright...
Miles Morales is a part of the 616 now. I'm cool with that, expected it even.
Old Man Logan too. Oh...uh...alright?
Did any major heroes get a last scene of tragic death to set up some legacy heroes? Nope they waited until Civil War 2. Great.
And now I heard things are all going back to the standard status quo anyway. Which I know they've always done, but...I dunno man. I don't think they even know what they're doing.

well I just saw a Wrinkle in Time. if I had to sum the movie up in one word it would be convoluted. the movie had great visuals but the entire story of the movie was just convoluted as hell. one would have been time figure out the Rubix cube then understanding this movie ( yeah that's hyperbole).

just read vol 1 of "infamous iron man".
i kinda liked it. not a masterpiece or anything. i just find the idea of doom trying to do good in his own way interesting to me. plus, seeing all the villains being scared shitless of a good dr. doom was funny to me.
and like others have said, the 4th wall monologue by mephs was pretty good, if not a bit long winded.
it's like there were two bendis: one who worked on riri williams and one who worked on doom.
