So I've finished the first season of Game of Thrones. Daenerys continues to be an unpolished gem, showing strength and naivety in equal measure. She wins over all the new slaves she wants to keep from getting raped, then entrusting her husband's medical care to one of them. What the hell did you think was going to happen you fool?! The Dothraki have their own healers! Maybe not so knowledgeable, but enough to treat a little flesh wound like that!

Eddard Stark was a great man, but alas not great enough to save the mess Robert Baratheon left him. So much hard work to get the leverage he got, wasted. It's okay to refuse to do the dishonorable thing, but he was too slow to think of alternatives when inaction would cost him. It's sad that a man who made sure to never look away from his duty was ultimately undone by pawning off the distasteful task of bribing the city guard to someone else.

Robb is really stepping up to the plate! Oodles of charisma and nerve now that he's been called upon to lead. I can see why everyone thought he was going to be the main character with Eddard being the decoy at this point in the story. Also with a surprising stomach for sacrifice that you'd normally only see in villains, sending a tenth of his force on a suicide mission so he could capture a Lannister on the sly.

Catelyn is a curious case, such a sympathetic character with nevertheless horrible judgment under pressure. No Stark did more damage to the family than she did.

Tyrion getting his ass knocked out by his own horde of hillmen trampling over him in the opening seconds was hilarious.
