Given the prequels I don't think they can oversell the practical FX enough.

They hyped up Kingdom of the Crystal Skull using practical FX before production, that basically went away when they started making the movie. The same thing happened with them talking up how Kingdom of the Crystal Skull would play like a '50s sci-fi film, but then it just ended up being Temple of Doom and Last Crusade with aliens replacing religious artifacts. Not that they didn't use practical FX, but they used a lot more CGI (and in some really big stupid ways) than they originally talked about.

You think the new Star Wars is ending with a flashback?

Rogue One is the name of a stand alone Star Wars film, one of those many "anthology series" films they're planning. It takes place before ep4 and is about getting the Death Star plans apparently. I can't confirm this talk about it ending right into ep4's opening though.

I looked at it wrong; probably because this is a thread for The Force Awakens, and not general Star Wars one. I was thinking they said this movies ending would go into Rogue One. Rogue One ending with the opening of Star Wars is something I've heard before, don't remember where though.

Entertainment Weekly - No new trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens at Disney's D23 fan convention

    http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/11...ler-disney-d23

“It is true, we are showing no footage, behind the scenes or otherwise,” director J.J. Abrams tells EW. “In the fall, there’ll be a trailer.”

There's going to be the first wave of merchandise in a month, it'll probably be out by then.

Regarding the Imperial parade, looks pretty cool, probably a lot of 'real' troops along with digital/matte ones (Which is how the parades were done in ROTJ-AOTC's of course was fully digital apart from Palpatine and co. looking at them).

To the right appears to be our first good look at the new walker design. It's also possible that those are Juggernaught/Turbo Tanks near the mountains there. They were seen in Revenge of the Sith mainly during the Kashykk sequence, but have their origins in ESB concept artwork (A lot of the new looks of the X-wings and TIE fighters also have nods to the concept artwork). Prior to being used in ROTS they also showed up in the EU as well, although with a somewhat different design.

I'm pretty sure one of the figures is the "Chrometrooper" Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie's character). It's unclear what her place is but from a marketing POV I think they're trying to sell her as sort of a "cool" hench-villain character ala the Fetts/Darth Maul/General Grievous etc. Last time we had a female villain in the films was Zam Wessel from AOTC, and that was a fairly small part (Plus she was a shape-shifting alien, so it's unclear if she really was female in the first place). Of course Clone Wars (with Ventress) and certainly the earlier EU had them, but as far as the saga is concerned I think this is the first major one.

They're no longer canon so they don't matter.

Do you do that with your comics when they reboot every 6 months, too?
