Default Uncanny X-Men (Series) appreciation thread

This is a thread where fans can discuss everything about the Uncanny X-Men series all the way back from 1963 all the way down to today. None of the other X-Men series will be discussed here, only the Uncanny X-Men series. You can talk about your favourite issues from yesteryear or talk about what's going on the series right now. Everyone has to admit that it is probably the greatest comic book series of all time (And I believe has about 600 issues if they had never been revamped to issue #1 again a few years back). What will probably happen with that is when #600 is released they'll count it from there so it'll go #601, #602, you get the picture.

I voted 90's because of the Jim Lee art. Story wise, I'd have to go with the post decimation stories in the 2000s.

I have been reading since they started, but I can't remember a better time than now for X-books

Gillen's run was my favorite. Sinister was perfect.

I was just thinking the other day about how much nicer (and maybe cheaper) it would have been if instead of being a Kitty Pryde fan and buying all of her appearances (plus her friends and then alternate versions of her) if I had just stuck with Uncanny X-Men, like picked an issue and went from there.

I wonder how crossovers would have read - I bet it wouldn't be that confusing as long as has Uncanny had two of the issues of the crossover.

1980's. No one can touch or mimic it's brilliance.

I'm not sure if I'm qualified to appropriately choose since I started reading regularly from 1993 and have only read back issues from just before Inferno. Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed everything in Uncanny from 1988 to 2002. Yeah. 2002. Looking at YOU, Chuck Austen.

Anyhoo... I'll vote for the 90s.

I've just done a bit of maths and I've worked out that if the series had not been revamped to issue #1 a couple of times we would currently be on issue #584. That means that in the next year or so I can see Marvel re-numbering the series when it reaches #600.

As much as I loved Gillen's run a few years ago, overall the 1980's were the best. The late 1970's were probably my favorite, but the early part of that decade brings it down.

    Year for year, the 80s.

oh how it annoys me how Uncanny X-Men was the only title (for years!) that was never relaunched and once people started commenting on it, within the year, it was relaunched.

My favorite era would be the early 80s with Paul Smith art with Bob Wiacek on inks. Such a great team!
