Must I point out Charles is NOT the only being on Earth who has used his powers questionably on various occasions...

CC talks about Xavier and Magneto being two sides of the same coin in X-Men Companion however, Xavier was a very cruel man but he was meant to be growing out of it.

You should have posted pg #20 from "X-Men: Legacy #212" too, Gambitxremy.

TBH, I see Xavier kind of in a difficult position. He wants mutants and humans to be able to coexist equally and peacefully out of the goodness of their own hearts and without having to be coerced into it; the dream is without question a noble one. The problem is that for much of history, mutants are an incredibly small minority of the population, and a VERY large chunk of the rest of it would rather see them destroyed. And you have other mutants who have no desire to be accepted as equals, but instead think they're superior and should be the ones in charge, if not thinking that normal humans ought to be supplanted entirely.

Which means that Xavier has no choice but fight. He needs his students to be able to defend themselves from human threats (Purifiers, Sentinels, etc.), but he also recognizes the need to protect all of humanity from the worst of MUTANTkind.

So what can he do? We've seen what happens when mutants try to work with the military; You end up with shady projects like Weapon X or the Facility, who only see mutants as tools and resources to use and experiment on (read: torture) for their own purposes.

This is actually a bit of a philosophical conflict I've begun playing with a little in New Class (my VERY loose Film-verse retelling of KYost's NXM), by having Stryke call Xavier out over the X-Men despite all his talk about peaceful coexistence (of course, this being Movie Xavier -- who's probably THE most idealistic incarnation -- we know better, but still, it makes for a good conflict).

Eh, she has done far more than that, what she did to Jean, to Storm, to that detective at the end of Generation X, to Tyke, neither really have the moral high ground here people.

    But hey, you didn't know?
In order to be qualified as a saint or hero in the X-Men, the character would have to have a pretty nice body count, or having committed any genocide... or, of course, being a total hypocrite..
But they can't try and stop genocides nor destroy poisons clouds... in this case they'll be called "Hitler".
