Well, damned if they do, damned if they don't. The first X-Men movie was made partly because of the strong audience response to the cartoon (also, the theme is inspired by the show, and Singer watched the show as research), so anything's possible really, and animation seems like a silly thing to pass up. But the problem is that for all of Marvel's success in film, it's not translating quality-wise (and therefore demand) to their animated movie properties, which makes them look even worse.
I liked the anime stuff like X-Men, Wolverine & Blade. And they were all in the same universe not just completely separate shows. I think they should do more of those type of things with multiple shows but have them all in the same universe sort of like what Arrow and Flash are doing but with animation.
DC murders Marvel here cause DC keeps throwing punch after punch while Marvel just tickles them.
What are these stories you speak of? would blackest night be one of them?
I'd like to see an Uncanny X Force animated film.
the market for a mature animated film has'nt been tapped yet.
i might rewatch USM again, i loved the episode with captain america and wolverine
Yep. Marvel makes way better live action films. But its not like DC has been making bad movies lately. Everything from TDK Triology up to MOS has been good but Marvel animated films have all been mediocre or just plain bad At least DC can make good films in both areas. Its like Marvel can only do one thing good. Live action movies
It's starting to get there (I miss HBO's Spawn, and am glad to hear that it's coming back). Flashpoint was pretty gruesome at times, especially towards the end. I'm surprised it was rated PG-13 (probably b/c there are no sex scenes and F-bombs -- but then again, Spawn handled mature themes far better).
I can't speak for the other poster, but for me, it was how one sided the fight was. Even if we were dealing with a mindless Hulk, he's never worked Thor like he did in that film. I was expecting to see a knock down, drag out fight between the two strongest Marvel heroes, and instead I saw Thor getting completely punked. Big let down.
Planet Hulk is the best example that comes to mind for me. The animated Ironman was very meh to me, wierdly coincidental that both its villains and Ghost Riders were these forgettable elemental villain henchman followed by an underwhelming boss fight.
Would Ironman Extremis count as it was a motion comic. That was done very well. I find alot of the current marvel cartoons rather groan worthy and less mature than the ones from 20 years ago. I do enjoy Agents of SMASH. The Hulk seems to be the character for me that works better in animation than live action
I don't need to say simply my opinion, right?
Fun animated Marvel films:
- Hulk vs. Wolverine (have yet to see the Thor one)
- Thor: Tales of Asgard
The rest are dull.
Invincible Iron Man (2007) though, is unforgivably bad, story is crap.
Dull animated DC films:Best characters there are Flash and Cyborg.
- The NU52 Justice League movies, characters suck in those films, especially Hal.
The rest are fun
TRUTH, JUSTICE, HOPE
That is, the heritage of the Kryptonian Warrior: Kal-El, son of Jor-El
You like Gameboy and NDS? - My channel
Looks like I'll have to move past gameplay footage
Marvel hasn't had a lot but Hulk vs Wolverine is obviously the hands down winner for their animated films. I thought that Iron Man and Captain America movie they did recently was good, far better than the Iron Man and Hulk one, wish they'd put it out on DVD already (seriously, it's been online since like July, will they ever release it on DVD?).
I seem to be one of the rare few, but I've really enjoyed their motion comics. The best so far have been Iron Man: Extremis, Thor and Loki: Blood Brothers, and most of the Wolverine ones (except for that Tomorrow Dies Today one). And I really liked the Eternals too (Eternals should get a movie now, awesome). Is there any news on what stories they're planning on doing next? I haven't heard a thing since they released the Wolverine collection. As long as they keep making these motion comics, I'll keep buying them. Seriously, some of these would be worth it for the voice acting alone (that guy they have voicing Wolverine in most of them is now my favorite Wolverine, beating even Blum, and that's saying something).
The adapation from comic to af is good, the problem was the story itself,it's pretty much written solely to please new readers..one of the worse justice league arcs. my opinion of course
motion comics is'nt really my thing but i might make an exception for the eternals.
while a movie might be nice, i don't think an unrestrained kirby concept (new gods, eternals) will go well with the general public
That is definitely true. there's no way to defend marvel in that respect.
TV shows, at the moment Arrow is killing it.
Video games, aside from the lego games, marvel has'nt had one worth mentioning.
The arkham series is lightyears ahead of deadpool, a game no one remembers now.
Animated films, DC has 3 (?) good ones last year, marvel had none of that level.
I'd say it's down to two things, marvel are sitting on their hands on the last two.
for all 3, it's the side effect of the MCU. Marvel wants to synchronize everything to fit in the MCU
To each their own. The IM/CA movie put me to sleep. Glad you liked it, though. The idea of the movie wasn't bad per se, but to me the execution was sorely lacking.
I'm a little fuzzy on how to categorize the motion comics. They're not independent adaptations like the tv shows and animated movies, as they have to compensate for the change in media. Motion comics are straight-up conversions, so they'll paint a fuller picture per the comics. So a part of me considers them different entities than the other outings.I seem to be one of the rare few, but I've really enjoyed their motion comics. With that said, I've enjoyed them too, and they make for good binge watching.
