Controversial Spider-Man Opinions

It happens all the time. Especially with retcons. But going back on topic, what's done is done regarding OMD. I am not concerned about the aftermath. Spider-Man is selling like hotcakes, despite it being so controversial with the Black Cat decent into villainhood.

Again, speak for yourself. I don't doubt that some many find Black Cat's re-decent into villainhood controversial, but I don't believe that's a deal-breaker for most people. I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

Just to help get the ball rolling...

1) The clone(s) of Gwen Stacy should get used more often.
2) Kaine should start degenerating again.
3) Ben should've never been killed off. (He also shouldn't have been made the "real" Peter but that's not so controversial.)
4) The Demogoblin hasn't ever been utilized up to its full potential.
5) "Slingers" should be THE group comic of the Spider-titles.
6) The Venom symbiote is in love with Peter.

I also think that bisexuality as a gimmick isn't exactly what I'd consider a good thing. That's why I stated some more reasons why I think it would be a good idea. Of course it would also be a personal preference for me!

But I have to disagree on one thing:
Not being straight automatically makes you the underdog, but not in the usual sense. It has more to do with institutionalized disadvantages etc.

Making him Bi, just to make him Bi would be a huge mistake IMO. Making any character gay randomly (much like making Thor a chick) is lazy. It's more or less saying, "we cant make a new character who might be gay or a woman, and make it popular, so we will take this popular character and make him gay or a woman." It's lazy writing.

2) Kaine should start degenerating again.

I think they dropped the ball on Kaine's "The Other" storyline. That whole becoming a monster was lame. They should have created his "other" as his 90s version. I'd love to see him have to face his old self. Evil clone of an evil clone. That would have made a great personal villain for him and a great visual (minus the pink cape).

I actually liked and thought that Ben Reilly having "The Burglar's" daughter as a supporting character was an interesting plot development.

Brilliantly drawn by Steve Ditko that arc. and as for the Story i thought De Matteis nailed the angst. can't believe they replaced him with Slott.

Didn't like her as a love interest--at all--but I liked having her around. Poor Ben, and so many avenues unexplored ...
