Love the Flash TV Show, any good Barry stories?

I love the TV show and I'd really like to read some stories with Barry. What I really like about the show is how Barry is always smiling and really enjoys being a superhero. He reminds me of pre-new 52 Wally. However I've tried both new 52 runs and I didn't find them that good. Is there anything else with Barry worth checking? Thanks!

1970s Flash by Cary Bates (prior to the death of Iris) may be what you'd like then. (I know it's what made me a Flash fan as a kid.)

Also, if you can snag the Flash Chronicles, those are even earlier in Barry's career.
