Default air purifier for reading loft?

I have been back home after few years spending holidays abroad with school stuff, just to found out all of my comics collection were boxed and piled up in the attic. Therefore, I decide this is a good chance to transform it into a small reading loft so that I can visit my golden memories any time. My gf picked this air purifier for me (www.go-clair.com) but it is only 4W in power so I was a bit skeptical. I mean, 4W, wow, it will save a huge consumption but is it not low/slow at all?

I think a de-humidifier would be more useful (depending on your climate) than an air purifier. Most air purifiers are meant as filtration against smoke, odors and allergens. If the attic area has a lot of smoke, the damage would probably be already done. There are lots of air purifiers out there of varying cost and capacity (did not check your link) but the main threat to the preservation of books/paper will always be humidity. De-humidifiers usually go for a higher avg cost than an air purifier but if you live in a high humidity area it may be worth it.

As I understand, dehumidifiers are used for mold reason mainly. Because my place here is attic, up to the top so I think dust problem is major concern. And this Clair air purifier is claimed the most energy-saving, and my gf already chose, so that's why...

Instead of buying a purifier that is (allegedly) built by underage political prisoners in China, why not buy canned air from China directly?

    I don't get your joke?

The air purifier is made in Korea, though.

You should probably google the brand and model number, look for reviews, and see what people who have bought it say.

    He already owns one.
He was skeptical at first, yadda yadda.

This thread is basically an infomercial.

But if we wait, I'm sure there will be more.

why I posted and what I want to avoid here is the possibility of "hidden cost". 4W per hour means around $1/month. Compare to what you are using right now, will you be skeptical?

I just wonder is it new tech or simply "too good to be true"?

Well, I said you were being skeptical at first.

Well, in a fully free-standing / insulated / isolated climate-controlled building such as hospitals, professional storage units or otherwise industrial or prime real estate,
or be it aeroplanes, what the best or most intensive de-humidification or air-purification can perform or bring about would be micro-management instead of miracles.

So you can imagine what a wall-plug-in little device is gonna achieve, other than not much!

I work at an archival institution in the Netherlands where a pretty elaborate both as intensive climate-control system is installed, for a totally insulated basement depot which is already to the most ideal de-humid and temperature-wise workable circumstances (in other words it's crap cold and dry as a bone in there!). Some degrees like between 1 and 5 or some minimal de-humidification can be performed but not more. Any temporal anomalies such as hot or humid bursts of air on account of one summer day, the mere presence of humans on and off (that's me!) or a next-door machine somehow producing heat overly may be nullified or overcome, but it's not and never that any conditions can simply be bettered just like that.

If you want your stuff free from humidity or dust, then don't store them up dusty humid lofts. No technology or products are gonna improve conditions should they be not good. Not even the product you seem to be spamming for.
