Things like Comichron estimates and best sellers lists will never give you the full picture on book performance. Since we can't have Marvel's internal numbers or accurately find them elsewhere, the best way to measure a book's success is, as always, see how long it's been going. Since Carol's books have been consistently going for several years, we know that her books are successful. Since KSD's pretty long run kickstarted the trend, we know hers was successful. The same applies to any series long-running series that you might not think is blowing up the shops.

I'd be awful surprised if the EiC of Marvel didn't have a much more accurate view of Units Sold (Physical and Digital) as well as Gross Revenue and Net Income for each book on a monthly basis.

They should know exactly how many books were sold, they're the ones selling them.

What they might not know is the exact number of books on retail shelfe, unsold to consumers at the end of the month. Even then they probably have an idea.

I honestly wasn't expecting her to. I don't think Marvel would've risked including too many spoilers for the movie this far out from the release date. I still think it's worth getting. It's a nice bonus story that builds on what we saw with Age of Ultron.

The thing has Captain Marvel in the title. I expected to see at least one panel with her even if it was a flashback or picture. She literally is MIA the entire book. Puzzling to say the least

Is it? They actually had to add original scenes to Spider-Man Homecoming's prelude to prevent exactly this (Peter would've otherwise not been in the first issue), as it was an adaptation of Captain America Civil War, where Spidey debuted but didn't get a lot of screen time. The one for Ant-Man starred Hank instead of Scott. The first half of Captain America Civil War's prelude didn't feature Cap - it adapted Iron Man 3 (the other half was Captain America Winter Soldier, so did feature him).

I'm telling ya, Marvel is missing an opportunity with MCU connected comics. These prelude things are always horrible. I've dropped the idea before and it never seems to catch on, but I'm confident that a quality, well-done miniseries with good talent that's set in the MCU and explores some of the "lost moments" would sell pretty well. Especially if Marvel pushed the collections in bookstores, like DC did their Earth-1 line (which failed due to poor management but started off really, really strong).

I know Carol didn't appear in this comic, but I still think it was a solid book and one that got me even more excited for her movie.

Most of the MCU prelude books are actually adaptations of previous movies, which to me feels like Marvel is being dishonest in their sales pitch. And I'm pretty sure they're not considered canonical by Marvel Studios.

Maybe it gets covered later, but I notice that there's almost no mention of the stuff The Life of Captain Marvel in there, just acknowledgement the Psyche-Magnitron "awakened her dormant Kree powers", and even that feels like a last minute change. Not saying it indicates anything, just an observation.

They left out the split personally stuff, the Marcus stuff, her encounter with Rogue, that the "off again" heroes were the X-Men, the Alcohol problem or her dragoon attitude during Civil War II. This seems like it was written for an 8 year old.
    Give them the bird? Really????????
