The author mixed up the plots of Infinity Gauntlet and Infinity War.

It's apparent they just renaming the Infinity Gauntlet story to Infinity War for the movie (much the same way they are using Age of Ultron for the basic plot of Ultron Unlimited).

The actual Infinity War comic has no relevance.

Yep. If the author said that blurb as "Infinity Gauntlet is a 1991 limited series..." with the rest of the blurb intact, that would've been a simple correction. It's a comic book news site, after all.

On a side note, despite the story being 23 years old, I only recently realized that Infinity Gauntlet was a double-entendre. One meaning is the object itself, the other being all the different and escalating battles that Thanos fought throughout his quest and the story, as in an actual gauntlet. And in that sense, he failed two kinds of Infinity Gauntlets.

What is the plot, out of interest, for Infinity Gauntlet?

And, for Infinity War and Infinity?

Can only think of maybe Darth Vader, Lord Voldemort, or Sauron as film villains powerful enough to take on many, alone, but maybe there are far more.
