Didn't Battlestar Galactica came out of SyFy? I didn't like it but heard a lot of critics saying it was the greatest thing since whatever.

You know, this could be very promising. I reckon the concept for this has been bubbling away at the back of Goyer's head for a long while.

Superman's grandfather Seyg-El made an appearance in Starman #51 back in 1999, which James Robinson and David Goyer co-wrote.

This was an issue where Starman and his crew land on Krypton while trying to make their way back to Earth from a cosmic adventure.

They meet young Jor-El who is an adventurous scientist and his authoritarian father Seyg-El and manage to pass on the coordinates of Earth before leaving.

Commentary was made on the state of Krypton, unfavourably comparing its conservative stasis and genetic determinism to the innovation and continual progress of Renaissance Earth.

Wouldn't be surprised if Goyer wanted this to be his opportunity to do a sci-fi version of the fall of the Roman Empire.
