What was the context of him charging shaw?

Sinister had died but implanted his DNA in Xavier, Shaw and one other person which would activate shortly after his death via this machine. Gambit found out about it and went to help professor X and ran into shaw. In any event to destroy the machine or the cage that held them, Gambit charged up shaw who then broke through it as the machine/cage was resistant to Gambit's power.

Gambit has also charged Rockslide and a lizard in the Monster X-men mash up years ago.

It seems issue #8 is Gambit centered and #9 is Rogue centered.

We don't need a Rogue centered issue .... all of them have been centered on her. All of them. IMO

Gambit stealing an object is not development. He does that all the time. Rogue is getting actual development. Gambit is the same dude he was at the start of the mini. KT just has him jumping around fron time to time to keep him busy but nothing of consequence is happening with respect to his character.

And he is still carrying all the baggage as Rogue has done nothing for this relationship. Rogue has done nothing to fight for his relationship and her first instinct is still to run away.
