Simon Kilberg said that the Gambit will have its different flavor and tone to it and will be more of like a heist film and a sexy thriller in a way. Some rumors say that this concept might be from Daniel Craig's Casino Royale. To make it more interesting, Bond Girl Léa Seydoux *will play as Bella Donna Boudreaux, who is Gambit's love interest.
I think this is the right approach for a Gambit film. I like Bella Donna being in this film too.

The UA#5 look like its going to be a good issue, but not a positive Gambit feature... He's 50% of the cover yet not featured in it's preview. You'd think theyd want to get the Gambit fans excited, now I think they are just trying not to turn them off by avoiding him altogether. I'm fearing a complete bait and switch. Not to mention, hes either on the boat gambling while all of mutant kind is dying. Best case scenario he's robbing the boat... while all of mutant kind is dying. But perhaps I'm just being paranoid?

I get the reason to worry for all Gambit fans... but I've said all along let's wait and see because it's Duggan writing. And I have no reason to doubt that guy so... Just please take my word for it and if I'm wrong I'll feel terribly stupid and sorry.

in case u didnt know, he has a source at Fox and has been posting little tidbits about the x-men universe in the last two years or so. Or he's now working/writing for Heroic Hollywood too.

He tease about the present set months ago, and as he says, Kinberg words suggested it too. So.... what are your thoughts, remy lovers?
Kinsberg said Deadpool and Gambit were in a post Apocalypse world which most took to mean present time because Deadpool is present time. That may end up being try and is probably the most likely scenario but that doesn't actually confirm it is in the present. Apocalypse is set in the 80s so if Gambit were set in the 90s, Kinsberg's statement would still be true.

Means, the actors portraying Jean, Storm, Nightcrawler and Cyclops are going to either have to get older fast, or loose their roles to other actors.
Most of these people will play characters probably 2-5 years younger than they actually are. And another X-men film will probably be another 2-3 years so if it jumps a decade by the time filming starts, they will be playing characters basically their current age or maybe 5 years older than their current age so I think the age gap is overblown. You can easily make a person look say 5 years older by just having them dress a bit more maturely and with makeup.

And most of the audience won't care all that much to sit there and worry about whether the cast looks 10 years older than before. Lest we forget, First Class was set in the 60s and DOFP was set in the 80s yet none of those guys looked 20 years older. And Storm fighting in the future looked damn well the same as she did in the original trilogy.

Pretty sure DoFP was set in the 70s... Saw a lot of afros, plaid, 70s model cars, music and bell bottoms. But I get your point..though I'd say the two actors playing Cyke and Kurt look even younger than their character's ages LOL. Jeans actress (from GoT)... It's not too hard to make a girl look older, but 10 years? I think it's wasn't too hard to believe with McAvoy and Fassbinder. They pulled off their aging pretty well because they were playing close to their actual ages in DoFP. Where I think I'll see an issue is in Apocalypse where I'm supposed to believe there 20 years older than First Class LOL. I see what they did with Jennifer Lawrence, she does in fact look more mature, which makes the least amount of sense seeing as she's a shape shifter.

I agree with your prediction that they'll catch him playing in a private game or leave it to see what the fusa was about. That or he'll just happen to be in the middle of robbing the boat. I wouldn't mind either scenario pre-SW but to be engaging in either right now shows us what the current group of writers think of his status in the MU.

The whole movie centers around the Cuban Missile Crisis with mutants interjected. The Cuban Missile Crisis was in 1962. Although, now that I recall, DOFP was in 1973 so 11 years. Cyke and Kurt's actors are 19 probably playing people that are 16-17. So if the next film is in the 90s then they will be playing characters that are 26-27 when they will be say 21 or 22. That's not that big a stretch. And Kurt is blue. I just don't think it is that big a deal. Most movie goers are not going to care that McAvoy and Fassbender are suppose to be 20 years older.

One can only hope that this boat is run by the Thieve's Guild and Gambit is here in his role as King of Thieves. Of course, that may be putting too much faith in Marvel.

Just realized the title of the book "The Bagalia Job"... You know, like "The Italian Job"? The heist film(s)? I think the one with Mark Walberg is a remake... I think they're working on a sequel. But I digress... someone's getting robbed, but I just wish it would have taken more advantage of Gambit beyond one issue, I mean.

What if Remy is the informant they were discussing? He could have been using his criminal connections to hunt down the Red Skull these last few months. He helps find Xavier's brain and then sticks it to some bad guys at the same time. Seems like a Gambit thing to do

Agreed. I suppose I'm just romanticizing the idea of Gambit being a bigger deal than he actually is in Marvel these days. Always wanted him to be more involved in the Intelligence game, but more as a broker and less as a gopher.

LOL I was so desperate for him to matter I was OK with the idea of him being de-aged and placed as Daredevil's apprentice... It's so sad. I know. I don't care what anyone says they seriously jacked Gambit's look and donated it to Daredevil and his character aspects and gave it to Fantomex. But no, Gambit has no home in Marvel. Just parts of him.

    Good preview. I liked it.

Gambit is mentioned on the cover. I do not remember for any guest star in books to be mentioned in such way for a long time. I think it is a good sign.

They just want to set up his appearence so his role will be a mystery. Is he friend or foe?

I think this is why he is not in preview.
