Magician and actor Ricky Jay has passed away.

I mainly remember Jay from both 1997's Boogie Nights and David Mamet's great thriller Heist (2001). I also recall that he was in an episode of The X-files, from the early 200X's.

Not many people are commenting on it, but Sondra Locke has passed away at 74. If you are a big Clint Eastwood fan, you'd have seen her in many of his movies.

I'm surprised that Sondra Locke's death wasn't reported until mid-December, given that she passed in early November (over a month before) - odd. In any case, big fan of Locke's film appearances in quite a few of Clint Eastwood's '70's & '80's movies. I especially liked her role in 1976's The Outlaw Josey Wales (fantastic western/civil war drama), 1977's modern crime drama The Gauntlet, and Sudden Impact (1983) - my favorite Dirty Harry film. Among her many non-Eastwood film roles, she was also excellent in her screen debut, The Heart is a Lonely Hunter (1967) w/Alan Arkin (adapted from the excellent novel).
