Harold Reid of the Statler Brothers has died of kidney failure at age 80.

Although known more as a singer with his group The Statler Brothers, Harold Reid did have a regular tv show with the group on TNN so he was a television personality as well.

Harold was the bass singer and the comedian of the group. The Statler Brothers were not all brothers and was named after a box of tissues. However, Harold did have one sibling in the group, his brother Don.

Harold co-wrote several of their hits with his brother, including A Bed of Roses. My family listened and watched the group regularly and loved the band very much.

One of the Statler Brothers songs, "Flowers on the Wall" got some airplay during a scene from Pulp Fiction.

The Statler Brothers had some of the best story songs. I still have several of their cds and play them every once in awhile when I get nostalgic for those great songs.

I've got a ton of albums from The Statler Brothers as my mom was a big fan and when she died they became mine.
