Yeah; I get not wanting to turn it into an attack-fest. I personally like Thunderworld more than Shazam; but there’s no way that Morrison’s Captain Marvel would work on Earth-0. If Earth-0 is to have a Shazam/Captain Marvel type character on it, Johns’ Shazam is as good as any.
Ultimately, I think that “which will sell better?” is unanswerable right now, because of insufficient information. Shazam could sell quite well if written right; but “written right” does not mean “make it as much like Thunderworld as you can”. It needs to carve out its own niché, and to establish itself as something inspired by, but distinct from, Thunderworld. Thunderworld has a refreshing edge to it (it’s flat-out fun); and as long as it maintains the simple joy demonstrated in its one issue, it will sell well. I honestly don’t see its disassociation from Earth-0 as a detriment; and if presented properly, I don’t think the overall fanbase will either.
Rogue wears rouge.
Angel knows all the angles.
What kid wouldn't use their newfound abilities for their own personal gain? Give me a break! Not every superhero is going to be a too goodie two shoes.
Now on to something that actually matters............Who would sell more? It's pretty darn close imo, edge goes to Johns though.
Reading this thread made me realize that I'm edgy and likely a jerk.
