It really is rather difficult to believe that at times. I've always been very close to my female friends, so I certainly believe it's possible for men and women to be friends, but you'd never see us holding each other the way Clark and Diana so often do (most of them are pretty damn touchy feely too). The various moments that people have posted from things like Young Justice and League of One are simply far too intimate for me to buy the "best-friends" angle.
Agreed. I have close male friends too and some are married or with girlfriends and I would not be as tender with them as Clark and Diana seem to be. I will give a warm hug and pat or a sisterly kiss but there is a line I don't cross. There is no way they could ever be deemed as siblings too. There is underlying sexual tension in all those pre-reboot images imo giving the reader enough evidence to believe there are latent feelings there so that if and when a future hookup happens ( as seen in many AU and elseworlds) it can be seen as very viable.
