Traitors generally send their kills fairly in advance to the host and many times the timeline is somewhat flexible. They also know how people guess. For most games, they'll try and use any powers/weapons they have creatively to avoid suspicion and time of kills is skewed. The best way to determine culprits has been said to be voting habits. There is talk of a game or two eventually that will employ clues and stuff, but for now, don't try and look at it too much as a traditional mystery (unless you want to, of course).
