Well can Mayday's world get any darker? Although I foresee the inevitable final confrontation with Morlun towards the end of Spider-Verse.

As much as I love seeing Mayday in another Spider-Man story, the story as a whole is starting to really drag. I like the concept. I like the action. It's just starting to get bland. That can still change, but I hope this issue picks up the pace.

Yeah, I remember Jess being in their universe, just hope she has the chance and/or discovers that they have Benjy and can save him in time, if the other Spiders don't get there first that is.

Can these villains be any more generic and overpowered? There's nothing unique or fresh with this event. It also seems to be ripping off Messiah Complex as well.

Yep, is not used that often but "choosen kid in danger need protection" is present in multiuple istance and declination in human narrative-history.
As for "messiah complex" apart the little kid being in danger i fail to see the similarities, all considered.
But i think that Project Initiative Cascada is rihgt in saying that the villains are kind of generic, but i think it was always the shtick of the "morluns" in that they are kind of vague generic predators wiht penchant for victorian fashion(much like vampires). Still they are perfect for this particular interdimensional crossover.

I like their fashion, even if it's not the most original. At least their looks are different for a Spidey book. And how often does a hero have to worry about getting devoured by the Big Bad? Definitely personal.
