Default What are your FAVORITE Spider-Man stories, points if NOT included on the list

CBR did a poll in 2012 to everyone's favorite Spider-Man stories.

    Here is the link

    http://goodcomics.comicbookresources...s-master-list/

Being a Spider-Man fan I dig this list as its a good point of reference to which stories are still out there not in my collection, not collected in omni/trade, and just a fun list to review and go "I can't believe they put XYZ story that high on the list."

Do you have any fan favorites that did not make the cut? Or a story published after the list was released?
I love comics and make art. Check it out: https://www.facebook.com/pages/ARose...9658123?ref=hl

I'd put all of Ultimate Spider-Man on the list Untold Tales by Kurt Busiek is also fun.

But the list is pretty good

I agree with most of the list. However my favorite Spider-Man story was left out!!

I didn't see Amazing Spider-Man #57, #58, and #500 The story arc known as Happy Birthday.

New York is suddenly attacked by the Mindless Ones and I think that Mr. Fantastic created a weapon to defeat them however it ended up destorying everything by giving Dormammu infinite power...at the last second Dr. Strange was able to reach out and Save Spider-Man. In order to correct everything Doc Strange sends him through time but in order to get to the right moment before Mr. Fantastic uses his weapon Spidey has to relieve every single moment of his life.

The day he got his powers
    Nothing can stop the juggernaut
    Death of Gwen Stacy
    The great weight
    etc...
Every single moment in his life until he get's to the right moment. Epic Stuff by JMS.

    ASM -96-98, 121-122, 136, 200, 238-239, 244-251, 260-261, 267, 274-278, 316-317 and ASM 400, 500.
Ultimate Spidey- I would say about 95% of the original Bendis run is pretty good, not very many mediocre issues like in his Avengers/x-men runs.
    Spectacular Spidey- 107-116, 118, 130, 134-150, the whole J.M. Dematties/Sal Buscema run, 250-262
    Web of Spidey- 1-17, 29, 37-55
    Spider man vs Hobgoblin 1-3

As you can see I love more pre 1998 Spider Man than recent Spider man.

Ten favorite stories not in the CBR Top 50...

Hyde and Seek (Amazing Spider-Man #231-232)
Great two parter by Stern and Romita, overshadowed by their other work.

    The Lizard's Revenge (Peter Parker Spider-Man #127)
Just the definitive Lizard story. Great one-off by creators who haven't really impressed me anywhere else (Writer Len Kaminski and artist Alan Kupperberg.)

    Dead Meat (Amazing Spider-Man #315-317)
It's not better than Venom's debut, but the rematch probably deserves a spot in the Top 50. Venom had more time to mess with Spidey, now that they've gotten to know one another well.

    Torment (Spider-Man #1-5)
The story that made me a Lizard fan. In his writing debut, Todd Mcfarlane captures a Spider-Man pushed to the limits by forces seemingly beyond his control.

    Arachnomorphosis (What If? #88)
Uses the title to show a world where Peter Parker's genre is different.

    Amazing Fantasy #16-18
Busiek and several artists explore Spider-Man before he decided to be a superhero. Good stuff, with memorable new villains.

One Small Break (Peter Parker Spider-Man #30-32)
While JMS had started his excellent run on Amazing Spider-Man, Jenkins and Buckingham upped the ante on the satellite title Peter Parker Spider-Man with the introduction of Fusion. I liked his motives for hating Spidey, Spider-Man's response and the sheer challenge of it.

Ultimate Clone Saga (Ultimate Spider-Man #97-105)
The highlight of Ultimate Spider-Man from the years between the memorable first year and Peter's "death." Bendis and Bagley distilled the good from one of the worst-regarded Spider-Man stories.

    Superior Foes of Spider-Man

It's too recent for the 2012 list, but so unusual that I don't know if it'll be included in future lists.

    Superior Spider-Man #10
My favorite issue of that run.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets

YES! Before I read the list my first choice was pretty easy: Kraven's Last Hunt.

One of my personal favorites was "Goblins at the Gate", from Spectacular Spider-Man #259-261. Great little story about Norman and Kingsley's conflict.

I like most of the stories on the list, however I'd add Spider-Man vs Wolverine. Its a story that truly pushes Spidey to the edge, especially with what happens to Charlemagne. Looking at this list though, I seriously need to start reading Ultimate Spider-Man.

I also liked ASM 233-236, in which Tarantula is handily beaten by Spidey, then decides to let science give him some super-powers, resulting in him becoming a freak/monster. This occurred early in Stern's run. Probably doesn't belong in the top 50 overall but it made an impression on me as a kid.

Really you can pretty much put all of Stern's run and the DeFalco run that followed on my list of favorite Spidey stories, I read those over and over again as a kid. I remember leaving the title and then getting a few of the issues when McFarlane took over but the magic wasn't quite there for me.

I have to admit having a soft spot for some of the Marvel Team Ups where Spidey would team up with someone really bizarre or coming from another world (Red Sonja, Deathlok, Killraven, etc.) even though the art/story weren't always the best.

I didn't even realize Spider-Man VS Wolverine was left out.

My guess is that some readers haven't picked it up because it was a one-shot by creators that aren't typically associated with Spider-Man rather than an issue in a major run, but it is fantastic.
    Sincerely,
    Thomas Mets
