It's from the 1950s Atlas era books. There was an ongoing feature, besides the main Sub-Mariner story, about Young Prince Namor -- a tales from his childhood kind of thing. They were reprinted in the Marvel Masterworks Atlas Era Heroes Volume 3.
Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

Yes, I too struggled with the pronunciation of the Sub-Mariner.

Thor the mighty Avenger. I couldn't place your earlier scan from it. I love that series. It's big hearted and absolutely gorgeous, and I'd forgotten there was a Namor issue. (And I own it. Hurray!)

Admittedly Samnee does draw a slightly too skinny sub-mariner, but alt universe, so anything goes.

Yes, and it's not like Samnee drew Thor muscle bound either. It was his style for the book to draw slimmer superheroes, and I enjoyed it there.

And yes, a whole issue with Namor! I was very happy.

    Thursday is THE TERRIFIC '30s & '40s
    Day 43

    Human Torch #2
    by Alex Schomberg
    Cover Date: Fall 1940

This book is obviously labeled Human Torch, but I didn't realize that the cover sort of made it a team-up book. The Golden Age books, however, were more like anthology books with lead stories or maybe multiple stories with the title character. So, there were invariably Namor stories in Torch's book and vice versa.

"But I’ll be back before those crazy commies can say “Jackovitch Robinsonsky”!"

It takes a truly confident man to use the phrase "Well, I'll be a cockeyed carp," but clearly Namor has an abundance of confidence.

Also, maybe I shouldn't have watched Allegiance and The Americans back to back this evening.
