365 Days with Namor, Day 52

Namor has left the building -- the King has returned to his domain!

    by Reviresco

I always enjoyed these triple panels which Stan and Jack did of Namor returning to the see, after the conflict with the surface world was over, usually accompanied by some descriptions of the nobility of Namor.

Namor the Sub-Mariner, Marvel's oldest character, will have been published for 85 years in 2024. So where's my GOOD Namor anniversary ongoing, Marvel?

I love Samnee's art in this series, but what I've never noticed before is what a brilliant job the colourist, Matthew Wilson did. He's really nailed the blue-green underwater hues, and also done a great job with sunrays and falling light. I'm not sure I've ever seen a comic panel with better underwater colouring. It's a great job by the art team.

Excellent point. I'll have to think on other colorists take on underwater scenes. Elizabeth Breitweiser comes to mind, immediately, as she had an interesting blue green palette. The Jae Lee covers on Namor's last ongoing were nicely done also, though I'm not sure of the colorist. Also alot of the covers on the Tsunami run. Esad Ribic in Sub-Mariner the Depths, was amazing at capturing the dark creepy of the lightless depths. Though this fan art by Daniel Clarke may have done an even better job.

Let this be a lesson, ladies, if you betray Namor, he's going to throw your statue.

I wonder, does this mean Namor commissions a life sized statue of the ladies he starts relationships with???

I'm with Cold Water, this is a spectacular work. It should totally be a cover. And you're right, the colours he's used do convey a cold, dark, creepy deep.

Thank you! If you don't post them here first, I certainly will.

Me too. Though, I'd settle for a print.

It WOULD make a great cover. Other than Peter Milligan, with the Esad Ribic, most writers forget how cold, dark and creepy the lower depths are. Definitely can get a Dagon vibe.

Having some connection problems, so I'm a bit behind. Hopefully that will be straightened out soon.
